🏆 The 2024 Oscar for Best Documentary Film has been awarded to Ukrainian director Mstyslav Chernov’s “20 Days in Mariupol”.
The film, which has already become the highest-grossing Ukrainian documentary in history, capturing the harrowing events of the first three weeks of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Filmed by Ukrainian journalist and war correspondent Mstyslav Chernov, the documentary gives a raw and unfiltered look at the Russian attacks, the devastation and the suffering of civilians in the besieged city of Mariupol.
“20 Days in Mariupol” has received worldwide acclaim, winning numerous film awards at various festivals and platforms.
This historic win marks Ukraine’s first ever Oscar award.
