What chutzpah.

Agent of the Islamic Republic lies his way into Canada, tries to smuggle sensitive equipment back to Iran, adopts a Jewish name, and then tries to sponsor his mother to immigrate!

He should be put in immigration detention until he is deported.

But here’s my prediction: he will spend years here continuing to game the system.

He’ll seek IRB review of a CBSA determination of his inadmissibility.

Then he’ll apply for judicial review (JR) of that decision.

Then he will file a Pre Removal Risk Assessment, claiming that he will be at risk to be returned to the regime he supports because he now has a Jewish name. Or if the regime falls in Iran, he’ll claim that as a regime supporter he will be persecuted in a democratic Iran.

Then he will file a JR application of a negative PRAA decision.

If he finally runs out of legal delays, it will take CBSA years to get around to actually removing him. They will complaint that they can’t get travel documents from the Iranian government, etc..

And on and on.

His goal will be to game the system for years.

Because our system literally invites him to do so. And an entire industry of consultants and lawyers facilitates it.

Stop the madness.

Put bad guys like this in immigration detention until they are removed. Make the statutory changes necessary to do so, protected from activist judges with the invocation of Section 33.

Then he raised billions of dollars.

Then he closed the source code.

Then he converted to for-profit.

Then he scraped the entire internet without asking anyone.

Then he used YOUR writing YOUR art YOUR code to train his models.

Now he’s on stage saying you’ll pay HIM to access intelligence. Just like a water meter.

He stole all of your data. He built the product with your work. And now he’s going to bill you to use it…

For years several Ontario & BC community colleges ran a massive scam to monetize student visas.

In broad daylight.

The federal government did its part by giving full time work permits (!) even to foreign “students” enrolled at dodgy diploma mills.

Some provinces allowed publicly funded community colleges to contract out programs, and therefore foreign students, to the same private diploma mills.

The consequence: hundreds of thousands of families overseas mortgaged farms, houses and business to pay the recruitment agencies to get their kids a “ticket to Canada” through this scam.

They were assured by the recruiters and overseas immigration consultants that the study / work permit combo would guarantee them permanent residency, and with it the ability to sponsor their families.

And if that didn’t work out? Don’t worry, just make an asylum claim, and Canada will never get around to removing you. In the meantime, you’ll qualify for welfare, basic and supplementary health insurance, publicly subsided housing, open work permits, etc.

But for many of these young people, their Canadian dream looked more like a nightmare: jammed into insanely expensive apartments and houses, sleeping in shifts, working bottom end delivery jobs, enrolled in fake or third rate programs.

And we all know the broader social consequences this has had: from housing affordability, to declining per capita GDP, to the upheaval in our immigration system.

So how is it possible that there have been no consequences, professional, legal, or political, for those responsible?

Where did the money go?

What bonuses were paid to the presidents of Conestoga College, and others amongst the worst offenders?

Are we all supposed to pretend that this didn’t happen?

There is no shortage of blame to go around. But the college presidents who betrayed the mission of their institutions, and the public trust, should be the first held to account.

OPENAI IS FALLING APART IN REAL TIME

I've watched companies implode for decades.

This one has all the warning signs.

OpenAI declared "Code Red" in December.

Altman sent an internal memo telling employees to drop everything because Google's Gemini 3 is eating their lunch. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff publicly ditched ChatGPT for Gemini after using it for two hours.

ChatGPT traffic fell in November. Second month-over-month decline of 2025. Meanwhile Gemini jumped to 650 million monthly active users.

The company that was supposed to build AGI can't keep its chatbot competitive.

But the real story is the money...

OpenAI lost $12 BILLION in a single quarter according to Microsoft's own fiscal disclosures.

Deutsche Bank estimates $143 billion in cumulative negative cash flow before the company turns profitable.

Their analysts put it bluntly: "No startup in history has operated with losses on anything approaching this scale."

They're burning $15 million per day on Sora alone.

$5 billion annually to generate copyright-infringing memes.

Even Sora's lead engineer admitted the "economics are currently completely unsustainable."

Here's the big math problem nobody wants to discuss:

It's going to cost 5x the energy and money to make these models 2x better.

The low-hanging fruit is gone.

Every incremental improvement now requires exponentially more compute, more data centers, more power.

Reports suggest OpenAI's large training runs in 2025 failed to produce models better than prior versions.

GPT-5 launched to widespread disappointment. Users called it "underwhelming" and "horrible." OpenAI had to restore GPT-4o within 24 hours because users preferred the old model.

Altman had promised GPT-5 would make GPT-4 feel "mildly embarrassing." Instead, users complained it was worse at basic math and geography.

They've released GPT-5.1, GPT-5.2 since.

Same complaints each time: too corporate, too safe, robotic, boring.

The talent exodus makes this even worse:

CTO Mira Murati. Gone.
Chief Research Officer Bob McGrew. Gone.
Chief Scientist Ilya Sutskever. Gone.
President Greg Brockman. Gone.

Half the AI safety team departed. Multiple executives reportedly cited "psychological abuse" under Altman's leadership.

And now Elon Musk is suing for up to $134 billion.

A federal judge just ruled the case goes to jury trial in April. There's "plenty of evidence" that OpenAI's leaders promised to maintain the nonprofit structure that Musk funded.

Musk provided $38 million in early funding based on those assurances. Now he wants his share of the $500 billion valuation.

OpenAI called it "harassment." But the judge disagreed.

Here's what I think happens next:

The AI hype cycle is peaking.

The diminishing returns are becoming impossible to hide.

Competitors are catching up.

The lawsuits are piling up.

OpenAI needs to generate $200 billion in annual revenue by 2030 to justify their projections.

That's 15x growth in five years while costs keep exploding.

Even Sam Altman admitted investors are "overexcited" about AI.

His exact words: "Someone is going to lose a phenomenal amount of money."

If I were running an AI startup with good traction right now, I'd be looking for an exit. Sell into the hype before the music stops.

My positioning:

I'm not touching OpenAI-adjacent plays at these valuations. The risk profile is astronomical.

If you're exposed to the Magnificent 7 through AI infrastructure bets, consider trimming. The gap between promised revolution and delivered reality has never been wider.

The smart money is rotating into sectors where valuations actually reflect fundamentals.

Small and mid-caps are trading near decade lows relative to Big Tech while earnings growth is only marginally lower.

Markets can price risk. But they can't price chaos.

And OpenAI is chaos dressed up in a $500 billion valuation.

He has gone too far.

Trump arbitrarily, without legal authority, imposes tariffs on longstanding allies to compel the annexation of an ally’s sovereign territory.

This cannot stand.

Europe and the UK should respond with strength and unity by imposing counter tariffs. And all of Denmark’s NATO allies, including Canada, should respond by contributing troops to the joint military exercises in Greenland.

The free world cannot abide economic warfare as a tool of territorial aggression.

If the response is weakness and disunity, he will exploit it.

A year ago he said that he would use “economic force” to “annex Canada.” He is now doing exactly that to annex a neighbouring ally.

We should respond with confidence that he is only about to get weaker. The US Supreme Court is very likely to overturn Trump’s emergency tariffs within days or weeks. And Trump is almost certain to lose control of Congress a year from now, effectively making him a lame duck.

If we do not act together to respond to this bullying, it will embolden him to go even further.

Greenland is shaping up to be another masterclass in self-fulfilling prophecy and stunningly incompetent Western foreign policy.

That's the sequence:

1) Trump says he wants to annex it because otherwise "Russia or China will take over Greenland", which is entirely bullshit (see https://t.co/On4Dif3UF4).

2) Trump says Greenland needs to be "in the hands of the UNITED STATES" because "NATO would not be an effective force or deterrent - Not even close!" (https://t.co/VZGoCEkSwP). Which is also objectively bullshit given that the U.S. is in NATO... Unless he implies article 5 is now null and void.

3) In response, to nominally convince Trump that Greenland can be defended from Russia and China (when it obviously needs to be defended from the U.S., the only ones who actually issued threats of annexation), the ever pliant and meek EU leaders have started “Operation Arctic Endurance.” The goal being to “establish a more permanent military presence” there (https://t.co/xINUxgOJYb).

4) And now Russia is saying 👇 that it is "seriously concerned" about the heightened NATO military presence in Greenland. Which is honestly fair: additional NATO deployment on their northern border is objectively a security concern for them.

The end result is this sad irony: Greenland is now a legitimate point of Russian-NATO tension where none existed before Trump started his threats of annexation.

By responding to a fictional Russian danger with actual NATO military buildup, NATO leaders have created the very security concern they claimed to be addressing.

It's almost impressively incompetent. Or maybe deliberately manufactured, which is just as bad.
