The longest runway, 16R/34L at Tokyo Narita Airport, is currently unavailable after a Honda HA-420 Hondajet Elite S aircraft (JA20YA) did the runway excursion today at around 1 PM JST while landing.
It was due to strong crosswinds, the crew tried Runway B first (go-around), then switched to Runway A, veering into grass.
Three crew members aboard, no injuries. Runway A closed temporarily, delaying big jets like the A380. No other damage reported.

🛩 25 years ago, on September 2, 2000, Lithuanian 🇱🇹 pilot Jurgis Kairys flew upside down under the Simonas Daukantas Bridge in Kaunas and the whole stunt was watched live by Formula 1 legend Mika Häkkinen 🇫🇮, who was genuinely impressed by what he saw.
In fact, Kairys has a remarkable record:
- on July 4, 1996 he became the first in the world to officially fly under a pedestrian bridge - in Kaunas;
- on September 18, 1999 he flew under ten Neris River bridges in Vilnius;
- and on September 2, 2000 he became the first in the world to fly upside down under a pedestrian bridge - in Kaunas😊🤘🇱🇹
