A little update, we got confirmation today that the HSE have given approval for the recruitment of staff for Jamie’s respite service. It’s disappointing that it took going public and making our private family life less private to get to where we are now.
1. Reposting this to try put more pressure on @HSELive to make good on the promise of respite made in December. We found out last week that the recruitment freeze was now preventing us from getting respite. We have had a tough 2 weeks. I had spinal surgery on Jan 5th…
One happy guy. Jamie heading off to meet his friends for their Secret Santa party with the Killaloe-Ballina Brothers of Charity adult day service. @DecPierce@TodayFM#blockrockinbeats
"All full-time carers should have a right to appropriate, free and regular respite based on our needs and the needs of our loved one. Without this, it puts all carers at a much higher risk of burnout and other medical problems."

Eleven personnel from Clare County Fire and Rescue Service took part in a two-week QQI accredited Breathing Apparatus course at Hacketstown training centre.
The students will be based at Ennis, Shannon, Ennistymon, Scarriff, Killaloe and Kilrush fire stations.
@dublin_damo I’m in Asturias at the moment too. Following La Vuelta. Got sunburned yesterday in Pajeras/Cueto Negro. Had to buy a rain jacket in Oviedo today, so agree with you on the weather. Settling in for an evening of a few local brews and food in Candas. Loving it here.
Listening in to @BRBeatsOfficial from Albufeira by the pool, beer in hand 💪 massive love to Jamie who is with the wonderful Brothers of Charity staff in Shannon this weekend. Best of luck to the Clare hurlers Sunday. Up the Banner!!! 💛💙💛@DecPierce @TodFM ay
We got respite over the line! The big man Jamiewith the wonderful brothers of Charity staff in Shannon and mammy and me are in Toledo Spain visiting his big sister Kayla who is finishing up on Erasmus. @DecPierce@BRBeatsOfficial@TodayFM listening in supping pints in Toledo. ❤️
@dalipolitial@RnaudBertrand Trust me, it’s a huge issue for the Irish people. There are so many parallels between Palestine and Ireland given what Irish people were subjected to by a foreign power.
@fergusfinlay We want services. The big sell from FF/FG was the ability to take legal action. We’re too exhausted to take legal action to force the government of the day to provide supports. I’m battle weary from trying to get respite services whilst caring for my son at the same time.
Got this from Jamie’s former Teacher this morning. It’s a few years old but most definitely gold. @DecPierce he’s repping @BRBeatsOfficial . If you’re ever in the market for a percussionist , look no further!!!
@DublinNuj@NUJofficial@Seamusdo This should be referred to the Scope section in DSP for a decision on the insurability of the emplyment for PRSI purposes. https://t.co/PFJ3ooPydr
Ireland’s @HSELive Refuses Adequate Care Supports for #Disabled Citizens & Carers. Govt’s #Referendum Article 42.B is Constitutional Expression of Paternalistic View that Care is Exclusive Responsibility of Family. Community & Autonomy for #Disabled Absent. Ratify #UNCRPD

Our thoughts turn to all those other families who are still waiting on Disability Services who for whatever reason may not have a public voice. It’s a little victory for us but it’s tinged with sadness. Our disability services have to be resourced adequately and be accessible.
