Turning Hurt into Healing Through the Savior

Even when we’re trying to follow the Savior, hurt and misunderstandings can still leave deep wounds.

Joseph’s story reminds us that healing and reconciliation are possible with the Savior’s help. Just as Joseph chose forgiveness after years of painful trials, Jesus Christ offers each of us the power to forgive, be forgiven, and find peace . When we forgive, we invite more peace, unity, and spiritual power into our lives.

“The sadness you have felt, the heartbreak, the loss, the suffocating feeling of betrayal, the upending of your life as you imagined it to be—I give you my absolute assurance, the Savior knows you and loves you. Reach out to Him. He is your comfort and strength; He will send His angels to bear you up. When will your pain be gone, your grief subdued, the unwanted memories forgotten? I do not know. But this I do know: He has the power to bring beauty from the ashes of your suffering.”

The stories of Saul and David reveal that the Lord doesn’t choose or bless people the way the world does—He looks on your heart and helps you grow in individual and powerful ways.

“To the Savior, we are never lost in the crowd. He knows how to reach us—through a hymn, a smile, a kind word, and sometimes through people we least expect. …

Please remember: Your pain is not a sign that God does not love you. He truly does. So, as President D. Todd Christofferson taught, ‘In the midst of [the] refiner’s fire, rather than get angry with God, get close to God.’”

@ShaunMcKnight Sadly, NCAA sports have jumped the shark. There’s no going back. I gave up the NFL, then the NBA. I’m at that point now with college sports.
@LDSMetalGirl Absolute fire. 🔥 They look delicious. I like something similar. Boneless chicken thigh’s filleted, half jalapeño pepper filled with cream cheese, wrap the chicken around the pepper, wrap a strip of bacon around it, ready for the smoker. Thanks for posting such deliciousness.
13. For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not.
1 Samuel 3:13
Eli served as the high priest in Israel during the childhood of Samuel the prophet. The scriptures explain that the Lord rebuked him severely “because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not.” Eli’s sons never did repent, and all of Israel suffered because of their folly. The story of Eli teaches us that parents who love their children cannot afford to be intimidated by them.
Elder Larry R. Lawrence
I read this this morning during my scripture study and I was intrigued by what Elder Lawrence meant when he said that parents who love their children cannot afford to be intimidated by them. In what ways do you think we allow ourselves to be intimidated by our children? We seem to be living in a time where some parents are afraid to correct and offer guidance to their children. Truly loving our children means we teach, we correct, we pray for them, doing the very best we can. We teach correct principles and then when they are accountable we let them govern themselves. I’m praying that even though I’m sure I have made many mistakes in raising my children the Lord will be pleased with my efforts. I sincerely do not want to be severely rebuked by Him.
@MamaCAllen@Kaaletram You do know that dads are much better at embarrassing their kids than moms. Moms are too kind and nurturing. But now that my kids are all grown adults I have resorted to having to embarrass my grandkids. I have discovered that is even more fun. 🤩
@EricCMeadows@MattDarJeito I totally remember that woman. I can still clearly remember exactly how she looked and how she dressed. I believe that I spoke with her a time or two.
We're living in an exciting time where we are witnessing the hastening of the Lord's work. President Russell M. Nelson recently reminded us that it is happening “right before our eyes” and not to “miss the majesty of this moment!”1

As the Church grows—through new temples, stakes, and members—so does the opportunity for each of us to participate in meaningful ways.

In his April 2025 general conference talk, Elder Ronald A. Rasband explained, “Last year missionary work brought over 308,000 new members into the Church. More than numbers, the spirit of the gathering is bringing souls to Jesus Christ and His gospel.”2

You are needed. Your faith and efforts—whether sharing the gospel, ministering, or strengthening your testimony—can make a difference.

@Here_s_Hoping Such a good post about “when the heavens are silent.” All prayers are heard and every sincere prayer is answered, always on the Lord’s timetable. That’s usually the hard part. I need to remember Hannah’s faithfulness when I am waiting on Heaven to answer my prayers.
