Opening night should be about the game.
Instead, the league is making veiled attempts to break us.
Players have been bargaining for 550+ days for basic professional standards. The message from the locker room is simple: the league needs to get serious.

🇧🇷 Wolves midfielder João Gomes discusses how important patience is when it comes to communication. 🗣️
Something you might know not about João is that he has a stutter, so to bravely speak like this in interviews is inspiring. 🐺❤️
Now that the floodgates have opened with announcements from Marlon LeBlanc’s Brooklyn FC, I’m really excited to see Gabriel Alves (@ga_alcides) this year.
The former Birmingham Legion, Tormenta FC, and Rhode Island FC left back is now part of Brooklyn FC’s inaugural USL roster.
Alves, 26, brings 90 USL appearances and 6,226 minutes of experience, along with three goals and three assists on his résumé.
While at Rhode Island, he was part of the club’s inaugural roster that went on to win the Eastern Conference before ultimately falling to Matt Real’s Colorado Springs Switchbacks in the championship match.
At the collegiate level, Alves was a national champion with the Marshall Thundering Herd in 2020.
Eager to make it out to a match this year.

We are thrilled to announce the signing of Gabriel Alves!
Gabriel, a São Paulo native, joins Brooklyn after most recently playing for Tormenta FC in USL League One.
Welcome to Brooklyn!
As a long-term stockholder in Alves’ game, I love this for Brooklyn. If you want a left back that can do anything you ask of him in possession, Alves is that guy. Deserved jump back up to the Championship after a good year for Tormenta.
