my worry about this is very similar to my concern about LLMs in academia: kids are gonna grow up & not recognize their parents’ failure to help them build independence and basic life skills. instead they’re going to consider society’s expectations unreasonably high.
The most insufferable person you know won’t stop saying everyone on SATC sucks except for Samantha and how she’s the only relatable one. News flash you aren’t her you’ll never be her
A lot of supposed 'anti-imperialist' westerners have this blatantly orientalist view of places like Iran. They aren't allies of the real people living real lives who don't deserve to be bombed by a foreign superpower, they only support the noble savages who live in their heads.
I'm the first to admit I'm a total simp for the food in Paris, but Montreal truly stacks up just fine!
We are so spoiled with incredible French food in this city.
Best French food I’ve had was in #Montreal. I’ll never get to Paris, but the Canadian restaurants and cafes I visited knocked the cuisine out of the park.
I'm an unapologetic Montreal Canadiens fan, but I will not soon forget the classy Buffalo fans for completing the Canadian national anthem when the singer's mic conked out. Respect.
Habs are the only team in the playoffs to face two top 5 teams with over 100 points respectively and people are complaining that we’re going to another game 7?
Let’s be real, nobody expected this as the youngest team in the league.
Win or lose, be proud.
A friend did one of Herzog's classes. You were vetted for suitability, as the class had about twenty or so places.
When Herzog called him up to talk about his resume, he admitted he'd made it all up just to get enrolled. Herzog LOVED this!
I’ve visited many places, lived in many places, and known a lot of people. The extreme fear of ageing is quite distinctly American.
Europeans are out there having babies and starting their careers in their 40s. Americans think their life is over if they’re not making 6 figures straight out of college and having kids before they turn 25.
I’ve never seen any other country obsess over age, or monetize that fear, quite like the US.
Even in my own family. Everyone raised predominantly in the US is always considering their age, everyone raised predominantly outside of the US barely even thinks about it.
@songbirdpublish Your Montreal content has warmed my heart ♡ you write with such an admirable sincerity and passion for exploration.
Quelle joie de vivre !!
Habs Fans: *puts on roller blades & a troll jersey that says Habs in 4*
Buffalo Fans: *Verbally & physically assault him. Mock our country & act like they’ve been an NHL dynasty*
Like sometimes, there are levels
A little chirping & trolling is one thing, but physical assault & foreign affairs have no place here
Here I thought this would be fun & classy

bilingualism endangers French? the enemy of French isn't bilingualism it's isolation A confident economically thriving #Quebec with a secure French speaking majority is far better positioned to sustain its language & culture than an impoverished one chasing symbolic victories.
Je commence à penser que le Canadien-Anglais moyen envie secrètement le Québec parce que nous agissons encore comme une nation alors qu'eux ne le sont plus depuis un bon 40 ans.
@CalciumDemo I too am often bothered by this obnoxious narrative usually pushed by transplants, but anglos are just as much Montrealers as their franco peers. This is OUR city.
One of the best nights of my childhood was getting dropped at a horror movie for the first time at age 12. We were so scared, then walked across the street for pizza. Mom got us after. We felt so grown up.
