@Rep_Stansbury What?? Asylum is not a human right. The third world does not have a right to come here and live off the welfare of the US taxpayers. We are a sovereign nation who should determine who does and doesn't come here.
@PramilaJayapal Is this true...they will face death? From whom? By what data? 90% of all US asylum claims are rejected. The fears of death and prosecution do not check-out. This may or may not be the case here. I haven't read of any genocide happening in Haiti...maybe I missed something?
@JoaquinCastrotx So confused. A president can institute temporary protective status for an immigrant group, but a president cannot remove it? Backwards world?
@RepJeffries Isn't it temporary? which means it is only for a short amount of time. I don't understand the outrage...its temporary. If I get a temporary parking pass for front door parking for 1 week, I don't expect to have it forever. It was for one week.
@FluentInFinance serious question. Has anyone in history been able to survive exclusively on minimum wage? That is, buy a house, food, car, etc. I don't ever recall a time. Less than 1% of workers make minimum wage, the market drives most wages way up ($20 in my town for McDonalds).
@BettyMcCollum04 No attack on legal immigration. They were not granted asylum; they were given TEMPORARY protection. It is temporary. If they want to return, they can go through the legal channels and apply for asylum like everyone else - where 90% of requests are not legitimate and denied.
@gardengirl125 Confused. voting for unfettered immigration and taxpayer funded welfare benefits (housing, medical, snap, phones, childcare, transportation, lawyers) for millions of illegals is in whose best interest?
@KarenBassLA Immigration history shows that 9 out of 10 "asylum seekers" are not fleeing for their lives and don't have legitimate asylum claims. Same true here. Their status was Temporary; they knew it and could plan accordingly.
@rpazotto@greg_price11 Sugary sodas are the most frequently purchased item on SNAP. It is relevant. many studies link regular consumption of soda to a variety of health issues (and higher hcare costs for taxpayers). If ppl want soda they can use their own money for them.
@RepDexterOR NO! they came here illegally and were provided TEMPORARY status. It expired and per the expiration, they need to leave. They knew it was temporary and could gave planned accordingly. Taxpayers can't support the worlds population here.
@BlisterPearl You need most of those documents to get a job (through I9 process) in the US. If you don't have those docs you can't work here. If you are already registered to vote, only DL is needed at polls. Very few ppl don't have docs, efforts to get them docs fast/free should ensue.
@middle_class_us Thats why American citizens should be infuriated when they allow 10M illegals in and they receive taxpayer funded housing, food, phones, school, healthcare, lawyers, transportation at no cost to them yet working class may struggle and don't qualify for any of it.
@bumbadum14 Why doesnt' their home country support their citizens? We cant support the world. 4 million have died because a trans opera and Iranian sesame street were defunded?
@skumWgmi Are you suggesting that if the costs of maintaining an apartment building (landscaping, utilities, supplies, labor, insurance, etc.) go up, the landlord should just "eat" the costs and take a loss? I suppose you oppose BIG increases in rent if major repairs are needed?
@omgsidewalks All Americans can use their 8 hrs/day for 50 years to create a product or start a business, invest life savings and endless work to grow and scale the business and earn millions. It is a choice. If you choose not to, that's ok, celebrate what you have earned.
@bagibson52@CampbellMaury WE already know this answer. Look to CA that subsidizes the homeless to the tune of $37B since 2019 and homelessness goes UP, not down, and quality of life decreases.
@CampbellMaury Govt cannot be trusted with additional money. They will steal it and look the other way while fraudsters pillage this money and no progress will be made - which is the current state. And then wealth taxes on ALL income levels will suddenly be required. No on wealth tax
@Luigi3563 Escaping the tax? Everyone pays the SAME amount in dollars annually into the system regardless of wage amount. . No one is escaping. If you are a lower earner the % of total annual lower wages paid is higher and lower for high earners. This allows equal benefits for all.
