An 18-year-old thug was trying to look cool in front of his friends by tormenting a protected California sea lion and now he's pleading guilty to federal charges. This happened in La Jolla, an affluent seaside community in San Diego.

Tyler Muehl admitted to kicking at the sea lion 4 times and striking it twice in the face. When the sea lion tried to escape, he chased it until it fell over the sea wall to the beach below. He pleaded guilty to a federal misdemeanor violation of the Marine Mammal Protection Act for knowingly and unlawfully harassing marine wildlife.

La Jolla Cove is a well-known spot where California sea lions regularly rest.

Stay away from the sea lions!
