There’s not always a byline on TV, so here’s a thread of some of the work I have produced.
I always thank the Lord as this job allows me to listen to people from all walks and thus have a better lens on society.
Also, as they say, you have to be your own biggest champion.

A Gregg Popovich story, with the Spurs playing Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals at OKC on Saturday night:
I was new on the Spurs beat in 1999-2000 when my uncle passed away in Austin. I was assigned to cover a Spurs practice and write a story the day of his funeral -- and because I was so new on the beat I opted to miss the funeral.
Popovich got word of this through the Spurs' inimitable Tom James, and Popovich pulled me aside before practice and gave me everything I needed for that day (even though interviews were scheduled to take place after practice).
On my way out Popovich put his arm around me and said let him know if there was anything else he could do for my family. I headed from San Antonio to Austin and made the funeral, and wrote the story late that afternoon from Austin. Some things you always remember.
1️⃣ 2014 happened. They ran it back, won the title, and kicked the Heat’s asses at the same time. Made up for the 2013 loss.
2️⃣ He already had 4 rings at the time. And 2 MVPs. He’s proven.
3️⃣ He wasn’t even the go-to scorer in that team. That’s old, way-past-his-prime Timmy.
Tim Duncan misses the 1st shot but had a 2nd chance for a very close tip in & misses again. This was detrimental b/c Miami would make it a 4 point game basically sealing a Chip.Had any other Star missed this, they would’ve got cooked then & to this day
Again,He’s Very Protected

When news broke out that Bosh is joining Wade, I was like: ok cool. It’s coz Bosh was a star, and not a superstar.
Wade + Bosh = ok
LeBron + Bosh = ok
Wade + LeBron (and even without Bosh) = WTH U DOIN ?!?!
He did this to himself. I am all for player empowerment and that they can do whatever the heck they want, but they gotta live with the consequences.
Forming the Heat Big 3 hurt Wade (and his PR) the most.
“I think they had better careers because they were healthy, not because they were better. Can he score better? Can he dribble better? It’s things they can do better but I don’t believe personally any basketball player is better than me”

In the midst of the pandemic, the world has stopped, but Kom @NoliEala made sure that we always featured Alex (and Mico) on where they were in their tennis journeys.

Me: *reads a fluffy post about Robert Jaworski*
Me: Huh, ano ito? Patay na si Jaworski?
My wife: Si Vice Mayor?
As we’re Pasig residents, I can’t blame her. Si Dodot ang kilala niyang Jaworski.
(And nope, Jawo isn’t dead. Birthday niya kahapon and it was a tribute post.)
They asked questions, sapat na yun. Kaso gusto ng iba dapat puno rin sila Lingao at Mogato ng outrage.
That can actually be a bad move. Why? You want to HEAR from the interviewee. Antagonizing may only put him in defense mode wc leads to less raw answers, if he answers at all.
This tweet, and the tweet it quoted, show that to this day: people have zero clue about the profession of journalism.
Yes, sometimes journos swing one way or another — left/right wing, nangsasabon/nagiging mabait, etc — but they are NOT MEANT to be judge nor jury.
There is no room for laughter or keeping the mood bright in this instance. They could have asked the question, let him answer, and not react. Instead they laughed so it would make HIM comfortable?
What about the women and people that already feel the discomfort from him and his statements?
I see your point when journalists need to do that to prolong interviews but SUNTAY should not even have the platform to explain and giggle about such a topic.
