FWIW, I think X would benefit from granting credits worth up to ~100 posted links per day to a whole category of link-sharing accounts (e.g. HN/Reddit bots, legit news sites.) Obviously not easy to adjudicate at scale, but there are probably some shortcuts available.

@neilcybart @Techmeme Dealing with paywalled content has been a balancing act, and yep, we've shifted over time. If a post is paywalled, we're more likely to link if it's at a widely-subscribed-to pub, or conveys news for which we can at least scratch the surface of what's happening in the headline.

We helped X by posting news to it early, and unlike, say @DeItaone, we provided helpful links too, to our detriment.
