I've had a long career in tech being a designer, founder, working on huge software at scale and starting my own companies with dear friends. Over the last 3 years I made the career jump to full time artist and have been helping people get unstuck.

This week, I've heard from so many designers looking for coaching and help to make more $$, land a job etc.
In the spirit of helping - here are 9 shifts to take right now - TODAY - to change your state and help the universe conspire to help you:
Generosity of Spirit:
Act with kindness, be open and willing to share with others without any expectation of receiving something back in return. This universal rule of being generous opens doors, broadens our relationships and exposes us to opportunities. Be a giver not a taker.
Conscious Listening:
Listen with full attention and presence. We cant respond effectively if we don't hear what is said. Here is what happens when someone is talking: 7% through words (verbal), 38% through tone of voice (vocal) and
55% through body language (non-verbal). Fully engage all 5 senses with those we communicate with so you REALLY understand what they are communicating.
Speak Truth:
Be brave. Be honest. Sharing our truth is the fastest way to form a strong relationship because it shows respect for ourselves and respect for others. It can be scary but it will set you free. Be the trust engine for the people in your life and share your crystal clear truth.
Non-Attachment:
Let go of outcomes. You have no control on how others will receive your ideas, portfolio, your work. Do the best you can and allow yourself the grace of not being attached to a specific result. Allow other individuals to have thei own experiences and learnings. You don't own others experiences.
Forward Motion:
Movement, action, doing and work. Move the body, create new work, take action. Making progress - even if its the tiniest step forward is the only way to not get stuck. The only way out of any problem is through action - Its not about making the right decision, its about making the decision right.
Connect to Higher Forces:
The creative arts are fueled by the energy of something greater than ourselves - whatever that may mean for you. Flow state is when the channel to this energy is fully open and you’re able to produce creative work in a way that feels effortless. You almost feel bad sometimes because the ideas and creations come so easily. This is one way to avoid burn out - connect to these higher forces for guidance and support - its a never ending source of energy and ideas.
Participation:
We learn what we teach and share. Be active in your meetings and friendships. Contribute in anyway you can - your heart will be warmed and you feel empowered and others will seek you out for your expertise.
Endurance:
The key to endurance is routine. A strong routine will have a few consistent components every single day. Here is a base level routine to follow:
1) physical (30-45 mins excercise a day)
2) social (reach out to 5 people a day in a genuine way and check in with them via text or dm)
3) mental (10 mins of meditation)
4) emotional (journal each day and review your goals).
If you find you’re lacking the energy to endure then implement the above routine and you’ll get back on track.
Gratitude:
We cannot control the racing of the mind or negative thoughts - they come in and out for everyone. However we can push them out with gratitudes. If you are overwhelmed with anxiety or stress take a minute and write down 3 very specific things you are grateful for and be specific. for example right now “Im grateful my shoulder isnt in pain while Im typing and that my fingers listen to my brain while I type this - my body is a beautiful machine” - A daily gratitude practice - writing 3 things you are grateful for each morning will completely hijack your brain and state - give it a try for 2 weeks.
The universe has you - make the big goals and have huge dreams and you will be shocked how doors open up and opportunities come out of nowhere. It can happen right now in this very minute.
