I wrote this song just 5 days after my father in law passed back in 2025.

The fallout still lingers from that and it has been a very heavy time ever since for my wife, her family, and myself.

To be a real artist, you HAVE to create things that speak to YOU.

Darrell was a mentor to me, and encouraged me to “be me” regardless of “the haters” and I can’t thank him enough for that.

This song has always been about keeping hope and believing that better times are ahead. It’s about putting the people you love before yourself even when you’re hurting too. It’s about choosing to stay happy and choosing to laugh when you’re in misery

It’s about choosing to “Believe” in hope when all seems lost.

I agonize over my work every time I go to make something. I’ve never had a formal “lesson” in music theory or music production, but what I DO I know is that I’m an artist and I have something to share, and I hope this song resonates with you.

It’s kept wind in my sails during dark times and maybe it can be something positive for you too 😎

As far as the technical side goes, this piece was composed over the course of over a year, so the mix isn’t perfect. There’s a rawness to it that is quite intentional.

I’m not concerned with the song sounding “good”

I’m concerned with it matching what’s in my head, and this version is easily the closest thing to what I’ve been hearing in my head since the lyric “we’re just flesh and bone” popped into my head.

I had a version of the song done back in late 2025, and even after showing it to friends who liked it, I decided to sit on it longer and work with it some more and I’m truly glad I did. This one was way better 🤣

Thanks to my loving wife @emma.g.fast for continuously putting up with my passions and supporting them. She is my muse and my biggest cheerleader and I would truly not have been able to express myself this way without her in my life.

It’s gonna get dark out there. But you have a light.

All you need to do is believe, and it will shine to light the path ahead 😎
