I joined media practitioners from the 11 ASEAN Member States at the 10th @ASEAN Media Forum (#AMF) in Manila. We had candid and engaging discussions on the Philippines' priorities as #ASEAN2026 Chair, reflecting on the key milestones of our Chairship as we reach its 7th month, and looking ahead to the 49th ASEAN Summit this November. It was in 2017 when AMF was first launched in Manila, during the Philippines' previous Chairship -- what a full circle moment!

Protests and other activities are planned in Metro Manila on July 27, 2026, to coincide with the Philippine President’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).
· People's SONA – 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Commonwealth Ave., Quezon City
· National Youth SONA Action Day – 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Katipunan Ave., Quezon City
· Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) Celebration – INC Central Temple, Commonwealth Ave., Quezon City
Smaller, spontaneous rallies from other groups are also possible near or within these areas.
Large crowds, traffic disruptions, and access constraints are expected across these and possibly other areas of Metro Manila related to these events.
Actions to Take:
· U.S. citizens should avoid the rallies. Foreign nationals found engaging in protests or mass demonstrations could be considered in violation of their immigration status.
· Exercise caution when in the vicinity of any protest or large gathering. Even peaceful rallies/demonstrations have the potential to turn violent without warning. Follow instructions from local authorities.
· Follow local media and government sources for updates on traffic disruptions and road closures related to protest events.
