Director Robert Eggers' version of Romeo and Juliet, announced as his next film by the Hollywood Reporter, is teenage love as the scariest monster of all.

Eggers isn't doing a modern reimagining or a clean, stylized Renaissance fair. He'll focus on the aggressive historical accuracy, brutal generational conflict, and a deeply gritty tone.

And to stay completely immersive, Eggers' actors will speak entirely in period-accurate Elizabethan English. Oh, and the sword fights are expected to be dangerous, bloody, and grounded in real historical combat as well.
