A man from Blyth has been jailed for eight months following a major animal welfare investigation in Northumberland 🐾 ⚖️

Thirty-two-year-old Michael Deas was sentenced at Newcastle Magistrates Court after pleading guilty to twenty-one animal cruelty charges involving several dogs, including five severely malnourished Cane Corso puppies that were found abandoned early last year 🏠💔

Animal welfare officers uncovered shocking levels of neglect, with veterinary experts confirming the animals had suffered greatly from a lack of food and proper medical care.

Tragically, three of the abandoned puppies and one adult dog had to be euthanised due to the severity of their condition and legal breed restrictions, while the surviving adult dogs have now been cleared for rehoming 🐕✨

During sentencing, the judge emphasised that owning a pet is both a privilege and a heavy responsibility that cannot be ignored.

@PieterseMarc Yes, clean & super intelligent! In pre-vet med., we were taken to Michigan slaughterhouses. Most of the workers, usually men, did MANY horrible things to the animals, rationalizing that the animals were going to die anyway, so who cared?
