Kentucky is losing quality teachers. We can't remain competitive because we rank 44th nationwide for starting teacher pay. And without teachers to lead our classrooms, our children are falling behind.

The state budget just adopted gives state employees an 8% pay raise next year and then 12% on top of that in two years, effectively greater than 20% pay raise over two years, but giving teachers ZERO pay raise is the biggest smack down and slap to public education in history
Tiffany Burris is the new principal at Piner Elementary. She has 16 years in the KCSD. She taught at Simon Kenton and Twenhofel and was an assistant principal at Turkey Foot Middle School. Most recently, she was the assistant principal at Piner. Congratulations Mrs. Burris

it truly baffles me that people think teachers are lazy & pick the profession solely for summers “off”.
what people do not understand is that teachers work countless amount of hours OUTSIDE of school to give students the best education possible. & yes that includes summers :)
