@linderc23 In no way do I agree with this "foil" idea, but I think that the Americans were very angry because of the enslaved American Christians. Therefore, I think it may have been from a place of anger and retaliation instead of rational thought and reasoning. #REL2121S18

It seems as if the U.S. gained a new sense of entitlement, and even arrogance, after their victory against the Barbary states. They seemed to think that they could do no wrong, and their hypocrisy of enslaving Africans is a prime example of this. #REL2121S18
