Congratulations, Dr Pascale Creek Pinner for being inducted into the National Teachers Hall of Fame! Its an honor to be working with you! Dr. Pascale Creek Pinner - National Teachers Hall of Fame
It was another excellent day for the NOCS Water Guardians @NOCSEagles! So thankful for @eparegion5 & @ILINSeaGrant for loaning us the Hydrolab! We loved working alongside @gaiaxus! We learned so much from @neorsd about macroinvertebrates! Science rules!
To celebrate #NationalEnvironmentalEducationWeek, we caught up with teacher extraordinaire and past winner of EPA’s Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Educators, Shari Insley! Since winning this prestigious award, she’s been very busy:
👩🏫 teaching a course for fellow educators on Kelleys Island in Lake Erie
🌿 celebrating “Shari Insley Day” in her hometown of @NorthOlmsted_OH
💧 collecting water quality data from @NOCSeagles’ creek with her students
🔬 monitoring campus creek for salt levels during winter months
Thanks for all you do to share your environmental knowledge, Shari! #EEWeek
Having "snow" much fun with our new Water Guardian @gaiaxus ! Comparing salinity levels of fresh snow, salted snow and pet friendly salt—results were remarkably different! 50ppm-5215ppm. Our question is-are these salinity levels okay and if not, what can we do? Science rules!
Where does road salt go after a snowstorm? We tracked it with our Water Guardian! We recorded spikes in conductivity, showing how salt pulses through streams after road treatments.
