A big problem / teacher shortages is that we have larger class sizes. Which places a larger burden on teachers who are there. It would be like a Dr who sees 20 patients a day, now serving 40 or 60 and for the price of 20. It greatly reduces time and attention each one gets too

Many teachers post about working weekends and are viewed as “dedicated”, making it more difficult for those of us trying to find the balance between putting in extra time vs being consumed by our profession. Making time for my own family does not make me less of a teacher.

The Dept. of Ed could never afford to pay us an hourly rate considering what we do. They got a great deal giving us a 10-month salary
