Bravo J.M. Coetzee! BRAVO. The most searing parts of Coetzee's rejection letter "..the state of Israel has been conducting a campaign of genocide in Gaza, that is disproportionate to the murderous provocations of October 7 - a genocide that has received enthusiastic support from most of the Israeli public.....it is impossible for any part of Israeli society....to claim it does not share in the guilt for the atrocities in Gaza...." AND "The process of cleansing Israel's name and establishing it in the international community would take many years if it is interested in that at all." BRAVO. They (Israel 🙄 Duh!) can't shut the whole world up. Speak up. Don't fold. The nonchalance, the cold-heartedness of even hosting international literary festivals, whilst bombing civilians and non-combatants, babies, it is dark and grotesque.
