Thankful for finally having the courage to share on X. This compilation of Google Meet recordings from November 2020 to May 2021 captures my students' struggles with virtual school and my journey from award-winning librarian to disillusioned outcast.
@NYBATs@alexanderrusso I taught high schoolers before, during, and after COVID, and then took a sabbatical to interview 14- to 24-year-olds about their experiences during COVID. Their social habits definitely changed https://t.co/cDOU3Ovy7o
This compilation of recordings from May 2022 features students from a Baltimore high school sharing their thoughts on the transition from virtual to masked, in-person learning. Their reflections reveal the lasting impact of this shift on their social lives, motivation, and overall perception of school.
@Ed_Realist@AlexBerenson@NellieBowles@TheFP This is absolutely false for students in Baltimore City Schools. Consolidated 2020-2021 year of google meets with students: https://t.co/jCd6R2nuuE

@hell0xk1tty@karenvaites Yes, but they're pretty weak. She doesn't like the sound of certain things and she diagnosed herself with some phobia and she throws that out there if anyone makes a certain noise. I'm autistic for various reasons (I'm always moving a part of my body, etc).
@Mottel Looks like most cities I've visited (or am about to visit) the last few years. 😄 Copenhagen, Oslo, Helsinki, Buenos Aires... If any of those cities have anything beyond walking distance of a Chabad House, I haven't seen it.
@MccauleyAudra@educatedandfree As an example, here's a powerful 2025 piece written by a former school librarian about what she saw and did:

@Noahpinion@FredipusRex Since my first vote for Bill Clinton in 1992 I have never voted for a Republican. AND I respect you. We all opposite need opposite algorithm burner phones because I'm dumbfounded that you could make this comment unironically.
@Noahpinion YES! It's so logical it should be everyone's position. My only regret as a parent is letting my third kid have a smart phone in middle school.
@drantbradley The college students I speak to claim their professors aren't the ones reading their AI essays anyway. They've got AI writing essays that AI is grading. For 25 thousand a year.
