A Catholic Priest and 10 Others Abducted in Early Morning Attack in Kaduna State, Nigeria

Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Asuwaye, parish priest of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Karku, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been abducted alongside ten others following an armed attack on his residence around 3:20 a.m. on Saturday.

An official statement from the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, signed by Diocesan Chancellor Very Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, confirmed that three people were killed during the invasion: Mr. Jacob Dan’azumi, Mr. Maitala Kaura, and Alhaji Kusari.

The diocese called for prayers for the safe return of the abducted victims and for the repose of those killed.

The attack adds to ongoing security concerns in parts of southern Kaduna, where communities and clergy have faced repeated violence in recent years.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement as of the time of this report.
