@alexutopia Taste is part of it but you also need to actually understand how to use it. If you gave early humans a guitar it’d probably be quite a while before they learnt to make music with it.
@EpicArtFail@mlg_sasha_@IsThisA3DModel@mattbarton Generative AI has been adopted at a faster rate than the Internet and I think the Internet seems to be doing pretty well these days, so no, don’t believe everything your algorithm tells you to believe.
@EpicArtFail@mlg_sasha_@IsThisA3DModel@mattbarton No one is arguing it’s not, the point is that it doesn’t matter, no game is going to appeal to everyone, that’s just a fact. The remaining audience (people who don’t care) is still large enough to achieve commercial success so you account for the risk by reducing cost.
@mlg_sasha_@EpicArtFail@IsThisA3DModel@mattbarton Because not using AI doesn’t guarantee success either. The number of people looking for a fun new game vastly outnumbers the people who refuse to play games that used AI. Why would you spend more time and money to appeal to a slightly larger audience? Instead, you cut costs.
@BGMaxie@IsThisA3DModel No, learn to comprehend the words you’re reading. It’s learning and learning isn’t stealing.
And no it’s not liking cooking, your analogy doesn’t track.
@BGMaxie@IsThisA3DModel The language you’re speaking came from the people before you. Our entire civilisation is built on learning from existing knowledge. If someone uses AI to steal another person’s work I would judge them as harshly as someone who forges paintings, I wouldn’t blame their brush.
@Whiterun_Knight@AIandDesign Maybe, but like I don’t really know how to make cheese and I think cheese tastes pretty good so they’ve also done me a service.
@akinialli@IsThisA3DModel Average people don’t hate this stuff. You think they do because your understanding of who the average person is, is largely shaped by algorithms.
@SarahTheHacker@EpicArtFail@IsThisA3DModel@mattbarton I don’t think AI will replace human workers I think it will displace human workers and lead to an increase of smaller studios forming because people will be able to do more with less and there’s no shortage of people wanting new games to play.
@SarahTheHacker@EpicArtFail@IsThisA3DModel@mattbarton I’m not arguing that AI is always more energy efficient. I’m arguing that it can be, so using AI’s energy consumption as a blanket reason to automatically condemn it doesn’t really hold up. The AI label is being used like a blanket statement. It lacks nuance.
@SarahTheHacker@EpicArtFail@IsThisA3DModel@mattbarton It’s inevitable because the value of human outputs are tied to the time and skill required to produce them. So between 2 people of equal skill the person who can do it faster will be more valuable to employers.
@SarahTheHacker@EpicArtFail@IsThisA3DModel@mattbarton Code assistance yes, the PBR materials are licensed assets. Even though I design how the planet looks and the artist designed the PBR texture I would still be required to add the AI label on steam.
