@ruth_millington The issue with Birmingham's Round Room isn't “leftist'’ curation, it's poor curation. Contemporary art can sit productively alongside historic collections, but only when the relationship is clearly articulated. The real problem is curatorial clumsiness.

Ofcom’s finally investigating GB News over its failings to challenge Donald Trump’s false claims about climate change, Islam and immigration in an interview last year.
But if regulation takes this long to come, is it really regulation?

Try this 1390 recipe for “sambocade”~ elderflower-flavoured curd tart, from book on cookery by Richard II's chief cook. Modern reviewer praised its “glorious bouquet of flavour", reminiscent of "Yorkshire curd tarts, fragrant hedgerows & long summer days” (British Library)
@Owen_de_Visser That was my thought, but I seem to remember one of them had an Olympus. The Sunday Times used to be fastidioys with the detail but unfortunately the evidence got thrown out some years ago.
You may be surprised that this woodblock print is actually by a Scottish artist, Elizabeth Keith, who lived in Japan for a decade ~ with blue & white colouring in the clothes worn by woman & shopkeeper, the umbrella, curtains, ceramic plates, & print of The Great Wave on the wall (1925)
"'Twas the night before Christmas..."

The world-famous Christmas carol – amidst concrete, metal, and destroyed equipment. Deeply moving.
The Ukrainian choir sang "Shchedryk" in the engine room of the DTEK power plant, destroyed by Russian attacks.
It's enough to bring tears to your eyes.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Berlin:
"We are Russia's next target."
"We must shift to a wartime mindset. Ukraine must have what it needs to defend itself."
"Russia is losing 1,200 soldiers a day. If Putin is willing to sacrifice ordinary Russians like this, what is he prepared to do to us?"
"Eighty percent of the critical components in Russian drones and missiles are made in China. China is a lifeline for Russia's war."
"Russia could be ready to use military force against NATO within five years."
"Conflict is at our door."
"We must be prepared for the scale of war our grandparents and great-grandparents endured."
I need you to listen to and share this story - of how Trump is preparing to abandon Ukraine in exchange for Russian money for his billionaire friends.
It could be the greatest corruption of American foreign policy in our history. Russia gets Ukraine. Trump's friends get rich.
In lieu of a serious musical weekend post, here is something light-hearted. Comedian Dudley Moore (who was musically talented) does a spoof on Beethoven, using the theme from Bridge on the River Kwai. Comedy used to be a lot more sophisticated than Andrew Dice Clay.
