🚨🎙️ RONALDO NAZARIO ON SENEGAL'S LAST-MINUTE PENALTY HEARTBREAK
🗣️“Senegal will feel so bad about this loss.
They deserve better.
To fight for almost the entire game and lose it in the dying moments is one of the cruelest ways to be knocked down in football.”
“It's kind of controversial to say this, but I'll say it because I think it needs to be said...
Belgium didn't deserve the win.
They found a way to win, and credit to them for taking the opportunity, but over the course of the match I thought Senegal were the better side.”
“They defended with courage.
They pressed aggressively.
They won the midfield battle for long spells.
The intensity was there from the first whistle until the final minutes.”
“The heartbreaking part is the penalty.
One moment.
One decision.
That's all it took to undo so much hard work.
Whether you agree with the decision or not, it's a brutal way for any team to lose.”
“I actually thought Senegal looked the more dangerous team.
They attacked with purpose, recovered the ball quickly and looked like the side that wanted the victory more.
What they lacked was that final touch in front of goal.”
“This defeat will hurt because performances like this deserve something.
At the very least, they deserved to take something from the match.
Football doesn't always reward the better performance—it rewards the team that takes its chances.”
“If Senegal play with this level of commitment every game, they'll have every reason to be proud despite the result.
Tonight won't feel like it, but sometimes a performance can earn more respect than three points.
Unfortunately for them, football isn't judged on respect, it's judged on the scoreboard.”
🚨🗣️ Rio Ferdinand on Senegal’s defeat to Belgium:
“Senegal will look back at this game and wonder how on earth they let it slip.
You’re 2-0 up in a World Cup knockout match. At that point, you have to be mature. You have to manage the game, slow it down, frustrate Belgium and protect what you’ve worked so hard for.
But they panicked. They allowed Belgium back into the match, and once momentum changed, you could feel the danger coming.
The penalty at the end will be debated because, for me, it looked soft. Very soft. But Senegal cannot hide behind that alone.
Yes, they’ll feel robbed. Yes, the decision was painful. But when you throw away a 2-0 lead at this level, you give the referee a chance to become part of the story.
That’s the harsh truth.
Senegal had the game in their hands, and they let Belgium take it from them.”
🗣️ José Mourinho blasts the referee and VAR after Belgium’s controversial late penalty.
🗣️ “That’s never a penalty. Never.
I watched the replay five, six, seven times, and I’m still asking myself what the referee saw. Tielemans doesn’t win the ball, there’s minimal contact, and somehow it’s enough to decide one of the biggest games of the tournament.
Football is becoming impossible for defenders. Every slight touch is treated like a crime. If that’s the standard, then we should tell defenders not to challenge anymore because any attacker who goes to ground will expect a penalty.
The most disappointing part isn’t even the referee, it’s VAR. That’s exactly why VAR exists: to correct clear mistakes, not to protect them.
You cannot let 120 minutes of sacrifice, tactics and hard work be overshadowed by such a soft decision. At this level, that’s simply unacceptable.”

🚨 Thierry Henry on Senegal’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a controversial last-minute penalty conceded by Camara on Youri Tielemans:
🗣️ “This is one of the hardest ways to leave a World Cup. Senegal gave everything for over ninety minutes, matched Belgium physically and mentally, and then one penalty decision changes the entire story.”
“I’ve watched the replay several times, and I can understand why Senegal are furious. Football is a contact game. In moments like that, you want the referee to be absolutely certain because a decision like this doesn’t just decide a match—it ends a country’s World Cup.”
“My heart goes out to the Senegal players because they showed courage, discipline and incredible character throughout the tournament. They deserved to have their fate decided by football, not by controversy.”
“Camara will blame himself, but he shouldn’t carry all the weight. One player never loses a game on his own. Senegal were outstanding throughout this competition and should leave with their heads held high.”
“I know the pain they’re feeling because knockout football is brutal. One whistle, one moment, one decision, and years of preparation disappear in seconds.”
“Belgium will celebrate because that’s football, but for Senegal this will hurt for a very long time. They’ll always wonder what might have happened if the game had continued without that penalty.”
“Senegal have once again shown the world the quality African football possesses. They didn’t leave because they were outplayed—they left with questions that will stay with them for years.”
