Wright's column is much more nuanced than the headline, and makes a subtle point that most gut reactions (including mine) may miss:

I miss the sweet, sweet brilliance of Fable as much as any AI junkie who had it for a week.

But I do prefer these feelings of frustration to feelings of the grid collapsing or a man-made pandemic arising.
