It would be wonderful to see a follow-up post officially acknowledging the donation received from the AWF community. A simple recognition goes a long way in building trust and reassuring everyone who contributed that their money is reaching the right hands and the right organization.
We have received a confirmation email from the recipients of the donations. Let us join hands to promote meme-related charity initiatives, collaborate with charitable organizations, reduce harm to animals, and make the world a better place.
我们收到了来自被捐赠对象的邮件回复确认。让我们一起推动meme的慈善与慈善组织一起联动起来,减少动物伤害,让世界变得更加美好。

AN ETHEREUM COMMUNITY
FUNDING ANIMAL WELFARE
Attention @VitalikButerin, @ea_funds, @everydotorg and the @ethereum community @ethereumfndn
The @AWF_ETHCTO community has already directed more than **256 ETH** toward animal welfare and protection causes through the ecosystem connected to @EffectvAltruism, @ea_funds
https://t.co/W2PFL23Cpb https://t.co/I9WhO1QsX6
Everything is public, traceable and verifiable on-chain.
One of the transactions that inspired this movement was:
0x7ba349c2a0b93977e40ba05cb60798ea18ed218f1022ce121881a371a0393bc3
where the ENS wallet vitalik.eth directly sent 64 ETH to the wallet:

The AWFcommunity then began using the same donation ecosystem, transforming trading fees into continuous contributions for animal welfare.
Community-monitored wallet:
0xbAd06a3CA84E4E2b489974d8918B5f7387e6dB8E
Community donations already reported:
* more than 256 ETH donated
* approximately $500,000+ USD
* public and auditable donations on the Ethereum blockchain
According to the official
Effective Altruism Funds
* more than **$110 million distributed**
* more than **52,000 donors**
* more than **1,500 grants funded**

has already supported hundreds of global initiatives focused on reducing animal suffering.

The AWF vision aligns directly with principles often defended by Vitalik Buterin:
* public goods funding
* transparent philanthropy
* decentralized coordination
* real social impact through blockchain
Vitalik himself has publicly written about public goods funding and decentralized philanthropic coordination. https://t.co/MAInSMz7YA
Ethereum has always represented more than speculation.
@AWF_ETHCTO shows that trading fees can become a permanent mechanism for real help to animals.
This is not just marketing.
This is not just a meme.
These are public, transparent and permanently recorded transfers on the Ethereum blockchain.
The community is now seeking:
* public recognition of the donations
* institutional confirmation of receipt
* greater visibility to encourage more contributions
* expansion of Ethereum’s role in real-world social impact
If millions have already been distributed through the effective altruism ecosystem, then transparent community-driven projects like AWF deserve attention.
Blockchain makes everything provable.
And AWF is proving it in real time.
@Lewis_Bollard We've donated nearly half a million dollars to support your cause. If you acknowledge this we can continue to donate. Right now we are blind as to if you're even getting the money.
Vitalik Buterin, take a look at this donation project — it’s becoming as circular and self-sustaining as Ethereum itself.
The idea is simple: every transaction helps generate continuous donations for animal welfare and effective altruism initiatives. The community has already contributed hundreds of ETH, inspired by the transparency and open coordination that Ethereum made possible.
A project where trading activity can continuously fuel real-world impact feels very aligned with the Ethereum vision. 🐾♾
@AWF_ETHCTO
@VitalikButerin@kassandraETH@ncsgy Hey Vitalik, inspired by your 64 ETH donation, some of us in the community also sent additional ETH to the same wallet. Together, the community contributed over 250 ETH. We were just curious have you heard anything from the Animal Welfare Fund organization?
Previously, people sent tokens to @VitalikButerin for him to sell and then donate. Now, it's different; the community feels it for themselves and donates on their own. Based on his idea, it will be much more meaningful, decentralized, and completely voluntary.
253 ETH + ♾️
Good morning, Ethereum.
250+ ETH has already been routed toward animal welfare through $AWF community coordination.
Think about how unusual this is:
A simple act of compassion from Vitalik Buterin turned into a decentralized movement involving thousands of people across the world.
No central authority.
No traditional fundraising campaign.
Just Ethereum communities voluntarily coordinating around a shared belief that animals deserve better.
This is why $AWF continues to resonate so deeply with people.
Because behind the memes and charts, there is something real here:
purpose. 🐾
Ethereum has entered a more reflective phase of its evolution.
Recent discussions within the ecosystem — including remarks by @VitalikButerin — highlight an important shift in focus: away from unchecked expansion, and toward a clearer definition of what the protocol should and should not attempt to optimize.
Rather than pursuing scale for its own sake, the emphasis is increasingly on strengthening core properties such as neutrality, resilience, and credible decentralization.
Within this context, questions around Ethereum’s role as a coordination layer have become more explicit. What should remain at the protocol level, and what must necessarily exist at higher layers of social or institutional coordination, is still an open design question — not a settled outcome.
In parallel with this broader reflection, our organization has been exploring how on-chain coordination can interface with real-world public goods funding mechanisms.
As part of this ongoing experiment, approximately $520,000 USD equivalent in ETH has been allocated through established donation infrastructure toward verified charitable pathways, including initiatives aimed at reducing large-scale suffering.
This is not presented as validation of a model, nor as a conclusion about impact. It is simply one data point in a much larger exploration of what permissionless systems can realistically express when connected to real-world constraints.
The deeper question remains unresolved:
What should a neutral global settlement layer be responsible for — and what should it deliberately avoid trying to solve?
And if value can move without permission, what structures are still required to ensure that movement meaningfully translates into measurable outcomes in the physical world?
These are not abstract philosophical questions. They are design constraints that will shape the next phase of Ethereum’s evolution.
🦍 Day 7: A Mother’s Instinct Knows No Bounds
How the Gorilla Binti Jua Saved a Human
In 1996, an incident occurred at Brookfield Zoo that made the whole world take a fresh look at the wild. A three-year-old boy fell into the gorilla enclosure from a height of 5 meters. While the crowd screamed in horror, help came from the very creature they feared.
What happened next?
The child lay unconscious. An 8 year old female gorilla approached him.
Carrying her own baby on her back, Binti Jua showed no aggression. She gently lifted the boy, began rocking him, and protected him from other males.
She carried him to the entrance, where zoo staff were waiting, literally handing the child over to the medics.
Binti Jua’s story reminds us:
Animals are capable of compassion and complex ethical decisions.
By protecting them, we protect a part of what is human in nature itself.

Vitalik Buterin, whether you realize it or not, your original 64 ETH donation created one of the most meaningful narratives Ethereum has seen in a long time.
Today the $AWF community has collectively routed over 252 ETH toward animal welfare.
That means thousands of people across the world decided not only to support a token — but to continue the signal you started.
And to every AWF holder:
remember what makes this different.
Most projects only chase attention.
This community already created real-world impact.
Real donations.
Real coordination.
Real meaning.
Prices move up and down.
But narratives built on genuine purpose become culture.
And culture is what lasts. 🐾
