Avatar: The Last Airbender means the world to me, and I hope they come out swinging, prove people/me wrong, and deliver stuff worthy of the legacy they created.

Guys, the animation took a nose dive for Seven Havens.

If you think this looks acceptable i don't know what to tell you.

Korra for all it's flaws (many) was a FAR MORE ambitious looking production than this. This looks like something Netflix would dump on their platform.

On a positive note, Jeremy Zuckerman outdid himself with the score for Avatar Aang.

The man is the consistent bright spot that glues the whole franchise, and his score for the movie is truly large and powerful.

The best he's ever been. 1:30 is magical.

Okay, sure. I made no effort to conceal how unexcited i was for Seven Havens, but this is just so flat. Avatar has always been known to have strong productions.

I didn't pick at any of the backgrounds, notice. Because i'm being honest, the frame to frame fluidity and drawing quality feels so jilted it's hard to believe this is Avatar.

It doesn't even look like Bryan did the art direction.

@Ani_lfe It's less than 2's. Definitely not 2's. Which is fine, it is a series. But maaaaan. The drawing quality is big oof. Shocked that Bryan of all people let this slide, the guy is an art fiend.

Guys, i think i was too hard on Korra. I take it back, Korra is on another level compared to this.

This is so crushing, because i was okay with the new art style being different for Seven Havens.

It's the animation quality. You all need to do side by side comparisons. Holy fuck

My personal example is anecdotal, but your metrics do not prove your conclusion. IMDb scores and streaming demand models are all selective groups measuring different things. They show that many people liked Korra, not that its extensive criticism comes from a negligible minority

That’s anecdotal.

By every measurable stat (Korra’s streaming demand, critic scores, ratings volume on IMDB, etc) the show is nowhere near in “everyone doesn’t like it” territory.
