Hey! I make Games as Lit. 101, a webseries about what video game stories mean!
If you want to check out my videos, I recommend finding a game you like from my Literary Analysis playlist. They're all very in-depth and I worked hard on them. π₯°

π Comms Open! π
I'm out of work for the next 3 months while the doctor I scribe for is on maternity leave, so comms are OPEN!
I have chibi comms & bust portraits open, but if you have something else in mind, shoot me DM here or Discord (jimikat)!

This will probably be my last post here, aside from occasional video links. I built community here, and I hate to leave it, but its basically dead already. Elon Musk killed it for money and power.
Find me over here if you still wanna see me around:

Hey, if you wanna follow me on the app that's NOT run by a narcissistic megalomaniacal douchebag, here you go. Gonna work on being more active, and probably more there than here.

Guess I'm back to listening to Until This Shakes Apart by Five Iron Frenzy until I feel better.
So like. Forever, it feels like. But music that's this angry about American Christofascism is a good mood for the moment.

Time for a new Games as Lit. 101 video! This time diving into the third Fatal Frame game: the least beloved, least remembered, and also best one.

This is infuriating. Best Prince of Persia game in years, probably Ubisoft's best game overall in years. Absolutely deserved a sequel or three, definitely did not deserve the team's dissolution.
This industry is rancid.
Prince of Persia The Lost Crown team reportedly disbanded by Ubisoft (did not reach sales expectations). A sequel was proposed but did not get greenlit https://t.co/WMIvn3sQm9

@Nintendeal Not a horror game, but definitely spooky in theme and aesthetic: Severed. A dungeon crawler with touchscreen sword combat, a solid story, and a cool aesthetic similar to Guacamelee (by the same developer). Massively underappreciated.

I've started playing Clannad again, and for some reason thought it would be a good idea to watch YouTube videos about it as I fall asleep.
...I am still awake and my pillow is wet. π
@moukiez Yeah, it's perhaps unsurprising that the reasons I love it have little to do with the game design (aside from everything I love about the series in general, of course) and everything to do with the story, themes, and presentation. π
@moukiez (and also using Davinci Resolve for the first time, so this'll be a ride lol)
But The Tormented is my favorite of the trilogy, so I'm excited to get this made!
@nintendopower45@thewritegame One of my favorites from my class back in the day was Bastion; simple, not too difficult but still compelling, and a unique framing device for a very good story.
But lots of other options would be good. What Remains of Edith Finch would be an excellent pick.
@nintendopower45@thewritegame Oh! Yes, I have literally done this at the high school level, though it was quite a while ago now and my picks wouldn't all be the same.
Thing is, it has to be easily accessible; that means inexpensive, playable on just about anything, and not exceedingly skill-based.
@LibraScopeYT Agreed. I've always thought this was kinda weird. Obviously not all of those early landmark indie releases hold up as amazing works, but I do still think Braid was pretty great.
