Why do modern day sidescrollers have these sealed 'battle rooms'?
I remember in the MM games were there'd be a mini-boss & that's acceptable to have a survival wave though...why?
Is Intecreates one of the few devs working in the genre left who's understands this? Very Curious๐ค
@STGshmups Even more so since Google no longer allows you to look at cached versions of pages that have been changed or removed.
The IA only has limited viewing of certain pages & sadly it's one of the few resources around to view that older content for research, etc.
Konami on the other hand supported the PSP the entire lifecycle & left many exclusives on the system, however, many of the more popular titles WERE ported to PS2, Wii & other systems
So two of the biggest 3rd parties & how they approached the PSP in very different ways
A quick side note about PSP
It seems Capcom was an early supporter of the system, but that support trailed off within the 1st TWO years, only to have the Monster Hunter Portable titles continue on through 2010, MH 3rdP the final game they released on PSP
https://t.co/GbG8J8Y0Db
& then continued on through the end of the PS2 lifecycle & as I mentioned bigger name titles like GoW moved to PS3 to help sales of software (&hardware, don't forget)
Until the PS Vita launched in 2011 letting it become the successor & carry on what the PSP had started in 2005
One thing I was going to mention, the general consensus is that most of these ports were done at the tail end of the PSPs life
That isn't true, as I mentioned, R* ported GTA in less than a year to PS2 so only after 2 years did these ports start to appear all things to GTA
Now there were some ports from PS2 to PSP (Atlus with Persona 3) but those were rare
Either they were developed in tandem or considered after the fact
Sony, R*, Tecmo and others ported PSP games to PS2 during the later years of PSP sales, again why? To make additional sales
Okay, let's get this done. A not-so-complete history of PSP -> PS2/3 conversions
Looking over the information I collected it looks like Sony modeled the PSP after the PS2 hardware wise so any ports would be easy to do
PSP launched in 2004-5
From 2004

Quick note on this
I can't find a definitive listing of all PSP -> PS2 conversions online & I could go through the wiki list of PSP games, but at ~2000, not today
So I'll estimate around ~50-75 as a safe guess & dive into the possible why's/how's later-> Renderware/GTA
but sales of PSV weren't as high due to many factors
Still, the PSP showed that while people like handheld gaming, playing on the larger screen still was preferable
Would those systems have done better now? Or was a Switch type system needed for that to happen?
Regardless...
