This is a large ball of ice that forms due to the extreme cold in a place called "Salzburg" in Austria.
People come here for picnics, and the locals explain the science behind its formation to their children.
I will be trolled.
@sardesairajdeep@ShreyasIyer15@ImRo45 Gill has a SAENA average of 20???strange that a player who can’t be an automatic choice as a player is the captain???
BOOM! Bishop Mariann Budde has responded to her critics who told her to apologize to Donald Trump.
“I am not going to apologize for asking for mercy for others.”
Smash that RT if you agree she owes Trump ZERO apologies!!
My week began delightfully, listening to @sardesairajdeep, first at A M Jain College, and then at Rotary Club of Madras, in the company of @ganapathi52. I was in conversation with him at the Women’s Christian College, later in the day, about his book on the 2024 elections.
I have been quietly observing all the chatter on social media(X) regarding the problematic statement by an industry leader about how employees should consider working on Sundays rather than "staring at their wives",and the misogynistic, thoughtless* responses on social media like "depends on whose wife it is". One thing is clear-senior management often live in a secure bubble and have absolutely no idea about the struggles faced by junior and mid-level employees, both male and female. An average senior manager aged 50 and above,is likely to be well-settled,with decent savings,a nice flat to live in,a car, grown up/independent kids and household help which attends to their every need. How can they ever compare their life with that of a young man or woman who is struggling to manage a household on a tight budget, giving time to school-going kids and care to elderly parents?Weekends are essential for attending, among other things,PTA meetings, household chores that pile up during the week(like electrical, carpentry and plumbing repairs),going to the bank, grocery shopping and doing umpteen other household chores. And then there is time needed for personal growth, which includes exercise, reading, recreation, spending quality time with your family. If you don't have these pre-occupations,that doesn't mean others don't.
Finally, and I can't emphasize this enough, just because you had a bad boss once, don't be one yourself. Be kind to your employees. They will remember how you supported them in times of need, like an illness in their family. Work-life balance is a serious issue, please don't make a mockery of it with such insensitive comments.
I haven't even started on the inherently misogynistic thought behind such statement as "staring at your wife", which implies that spending time with your wife is a waste of time for men.And of course the obvious problem with the statement-completely fails to acknowledge women employees, like they are invisible. Everyone knows that women put in more hours doing domestic chores than men the world over(this became clear during the pandemic). Working women need to be handled differently coz their issues may be more complex than those of their male colleagues. If you make working conditions tough(including not giving them a decent, paid maternity leave),more of them will be forced to drop out of the workplace.
In fact, every single employee is different. Everyone has their own set of problems and challenges in life.
Obviously at the end of the day, a head of an organization can demand from his employees that they work as hard as he does(without expecting any special privileges).I can only request -
Please give your female and male employees, subordinates and juniors a break.Everyone needs to rest and recharge their batteries. Do not normalize working on weekends and holidays 🙏

(*More power to the said gentleman's wife for putting up with such a husband. I hope she finds fulfillment in her own creative pursuits).
L&T Chairman advocating 90 hour week because you can't be home staring at your wife's face for long is most outrageous. Any mid level executive saying this would have been sacked by the HR. L&T Chairman should issue an unqualified apology.
Danish engineers Larsen & Toubro founded L&T in 1938. Today Denmark ranks 3rd globally in work life balance, 9th in GDP/capita & averages 34 hrs worked/wk. Get a life Mr. Chairman @larsentoubro!
