@chekaterror I guess it was made untenable. This is mostly baseless speculation but maybe Northern Mesopotamia was well positioned to weather the crisis? Though I guess Southern Mesopotamia didn't de-complexify as much as the mediterranean coast and Anatolia.
@chekaterror Iirc, the Dorian invasion comes from Greek myth. The idea is that the Dorians displaced the Acheans we see in the Homeric epics and this is reflected in later myth. Crete spoke Doric greek so it likely was included.
@insurrealist If anything the opposite is closer to being true. People will assert their hyperspecific standards are timeless platonic forms and inviolable constants of human nature.
