Als je weet dat bomen en struiken pas ontbranden bij een hitte van ongeveer 250°C tot 400°C, droog gras bij ongeveer 250°C in brand vliegt, terwijl hout (afhankelijk van het vochtgehalte) pas ontbrandt tussen de 280°C en 390°C, dan weet je dat alle bosbranden door de mens zijn aangestoken en niet de oorzaak zijn van de zogezegde opwarming der aarde.
Zelfontbranding in de natuur puur door de luchttemperatuur, bijvoorbeeld tijdens een hittegolf van 40°C of meer is dus uitgesloten.
