Hamdan Ballal — the co-director of No Other Land — has been kidnapped and beaten (and allegedly lynched). The fact that there is barely any coverage of this is horrifying.
When Fannie Lou Hamer said, “This Flag is drenched in our blood...all across this country, they know what they done to us,” she was speaking about the FACT that every American Flag flown has come systemic white supremacism and nation wide anti-Blackness.
Having grown up and being related to a large majority of church leadership… none of this.
Much of this was outsourced to individual parishioners and more lucrative endeavors (childcare centers, event centers, renting out sanctuary for marriages/funerals) pursued.
Question for my black church goers: how many of y’all attend a *mega* church and if you do- do they have food pantries available to the congregation? Do they offer carpooling services? Employment assistance? How involved are they in your surrounding community?
