This is absolutely AMAZING! π Only in slow motion can you appreciate this female Hairy-footed flower bee collecting pollen from these Cowslips on her proboscis. She then wipes it off with her front legs and attaches it to her hind legs, before storing it in her nest cell! β€οΈπ
Domestic cats don't belong outdoors unsupervised. You likely wouldn't let your dog out to wander and terrorise local wildlife and shit in everyone's garden, so why is it ok that cats do it?
Unbelievable work from these 2 raising money for AI appeal. Especially visiting scolt, one of the worst hit places in the Uk.

First paper from my PhD now available in @IBIS_journal. We find curlew nest survival to be consistently low across a diverse lowland landscape, primarily due to mammalian predation. We discuss potential solutions.

Incredible study on Curlew nesting in Breckland by the amazing @Ewing_birds & @JenGill3 of @ueaceec and @RSPBScienceβs @drredshank. Hard to see how this important breeding population can survive without sustained landscape-scale #fox control.
Spent a lovely winters afternoon birding with @RBrock94 featuring the essential Stubb Mill birding blanket, 15 cranes and some snazzy swans ππ»π
Enjoyable @_BTO bird (& fungi!) walk for @TheBrecksLP at Knettishall Heath & airfield this morning. Good views/hearings of Marsh Tit, Nuthatch and Treecreeper in the woods, then Stonechatπ· and flocks of finches, buntings and Skylarks being disturbed by a quartering Marsh Harrier
Wonderful weather, lovely people and some great sightings β and hearings β on our @_BTO/@TheBrecksLP bird walk at Lynford today. Highlights included a Firecrest in the lowest branches of a birch sapling, and Yellowhammers feeding in dappled sunlight on a carpet of autumn leaves.
