@El_Loco_Jo Similar thing happened to me, booked ages before at a local pub, staff (who were deeply embarrassed) said the manger didn’t think y”I would show so gave your table away (to his mates who he was drinking with!). Not been there since and glad to see it’s shutting early some nights.

@fesshole It turns out that the US CV sifter, faced with a multitude of applicants with a 1st assumed that the UK grading system put a 3rd above a 1st!

@fesshole Honesty can pay. My brother got a third in the late 90’s as he spent a high proportion of his undergraduate time in India. He applied for a job at Cisco in the Netherlands. He put down his 3rd and was surprised to get an interview and by all accounts did very well and got the job
