Just another ex footballer getting involved in things he knows nothing about.
We do not know why this referee has been refused entry but US Immigration wudn’t do it without good cause. Remember the number of people being refused entry is tiny compared to the number being allowed in, of all ethnicities or religions.
Wright may not agree with it but he is not responsible for security for the tournament or the US….. thank god.
Hosting a sporting event is separate from keeping a country safe, if we were hosting it wud we want to be under an obligation to let anybody in just because he or she is a referee, a player, an official, a member of a team’s coaching staff or indeed an overpaid, overrated gobby pundit?
Say a player had a prior conviction for rape for example, wud you want him automatically given entry to the country? Or how about somebody who has posted on social media his praise for the activities of Indian Mujahideen, a terrorist group responsible for multiple terror attacks in India? No thought not!
It may of escaped your notice but Reeves has a black hole in the public finances 10, 20 even 30 times that, depending on which economists u believe. That’s why there is all this talk about having to put taxes up yet again, that’s why the Treasury & the MoD are locked in a battle over a measly couple of billion quid for the defence budget.
@TimesRadio Hilary Benn claims that this Labour Govt has deported 70k people since coming into office but roughly 45k of those have left voluntarily, probably because they are as fed up with living in this country as the increasing number of Brits who are leaving, & over 10k were foreign prisoners released early on condition that they left the country, so effectively let off from serving their full sentence for their crime. Meanwhile, roughly 80,000 illegal migrants have come in on boats from France. When u dig into the detail the Govt’s efforts to combat illegal immigration is a long way from the success story that Benn paints it to be.
So u think if there were no Nigel Farage & no Reform everything in the Uk garden wud be rosy do u? If somebody points out to u that your car has a flat tyre you don’t blame the person who told you for that that tyre. The country is in a mess on so many levels and that’s down to people who have been running it for the last 20 years. That’s Labour, the Cons & the LibDems not Farage, not Reform. Don’t shoot the messenger.
As for what party donors want for their money, you’re making tens of millions from the obsessive net zero agenda being pursued by Labour, the party that u gave £6m to before the last General Election. Sprat to catch a mackerel?
@TimesRadio The Govt can’t arrest it’s way out of the problem of public anger at mass immigration, it can’t censor it’s way out of it & it can’t just get away with pointing the finger of blame at somebody else. It needs to take action to address the reason why people are angry. Turning back the boats in the channel wud be a start & an indication that they are finally listening to people’s concerns.
No it isn’t you moron. It’s down to the frustration felt by a growing number of people at being ignored & lied to by politicians. Successive Govts have imposed mass immigration on us that we didn’t want, told us that they wud cut net annual immigration to tens of thousands then put it up to almost 1m, and promised that they will tackle the illegal boat crossings but instead do nothing. Our govt is literally fiddling whilst Belfast burns.
@TalkTV Before Lab came into office in 1997 defence spending was 2.7% of GDP but by 2007 the last Lab Govt had actually cut defence spending to 2.4% of GDP. The only reason that by 2010 it had gone back up as a share of GDP is because they dramatically shrank the size the economy, not because they increased defence spending.
Maybe Nowak shud sit down with the unemployed, particularly youngsters and explain how all the rights that he supports them having and all they punitive taxes on jobs that this Labour govt has imposed on employers is the reason why they haven’t got a job. The truth is that employment rights are only any use if you are in work, & increasingly employers are baulking at taking people on because of the cost involved & the rights bestowed on workers from day 1.
Nice tan btw Mr Nowak, been away somewhere nice
I’d wager that most decent black mothers wud rather their son was stopped & searched a hundred times by the police than stopped & stabbed once by another black kid. Stop & search if done visibly, frequently & supported by tough sentencing for those caught carrying knives wud cut knife crime. There is no denying that. Not even hardened criminals wud leave home with a knife if they knew that there was a better than 50% chance that they were going to get stopped & searched and there was a min of 5 years inside awaiting them when caught with a knife.
@TimesRadio Perhaps Kezia Dugdale can explain in a sentence why the police officers attending that scene in Southampton decided to handcuff a dying white man on the say so of an unharmed brown man if it wasn’t because they had been programmed to prioritise minority groups to the detriment of everybody else. I can understand why a gay woman like Dugdale will fiercely resist any rowing back on any aspect of DEI & equality legislation but the truth is it’s clearly no longer fit for purpose.
@BoveFromAbove When Zelenskyy criticised Reform councils for removing the Ukrainian flag from public buildings did Two Tier Kier slap him down for interfering in Uk politics, No, of course he fucking didn’t.
Yes and Angela Merkel’s name appears dozens of times and Keir Starmer’s name appears 26 times. Even dear old Teresa May gets a few mentions so what’s your point? The truth is that there is zero evidence that any of them ever even met Epstein and their names appearing in the Epstein files is in the context of them being referenced in emails between third parties where UK & European political developments were being discussed. Nice try.
People need to understand that despite EU membership providing for free movement of people & goods, nothing about being in that club is free.
Our annual membership fee if we rejoined wud be a minimum of £10bn, or roughly £140 for every man, woman & child in the Uk. That wud be the direct financial cost to the country of both the tangible benefits of being in the EU, like for example us not having to join the non EU passport holder queue when travelling to an EU country, and the intangible benefits like free trade, and just because when we were a member none of us was responsible for directly paying our share of the membership fee it doesn’t mean that ultimately we didn’t indirectly pay thru our taxes.
So have another referendum but explain to everybody that if we vote to rejoin then from that point on, every man, woman & child will be billed for their share of that membership fee because that is the only way to make people properly weigh up the pros & cons of rejoining.
So if we vote to rejoin then on Jan 1 every year each of us will have our share of the cost of being in this club deducted from our bank account by the Govt, which means that a couple with 3 kids will need to decide if being in the EU is worth £700 a year (5 x roughly £140) to their family.
Trust me once people are confronted with the reality that EU membership is not a free ride we will be able to put this debate to bed once & for all.
