@soledadobrien@audible_com Taught with your mom at SHSW. Remember her feistiness with fondness. Interviewed several O’Brien kids for Brown, but you all seemed to prefer that place in Cambridge. Alas! Good luck with the P.O.C. project.
Fifteen years ago today my mom passed away. I felt orphaned. Still do. Here are two photos of her, one as a young bride and one as a proud grandmother of a grandson groom. Miss you mom.
@53drlc Hi Linda. Hope you are well. I’m fine, leading a life of contented isolation with my books and music and occasional sport, especially fanless EPL in late June/July. Not set foot in a grocery store since March 13. This hunkering in place is not a huge stretch for me. Be healthy.
When historians pick up their pens to write the story of the 21st century, let them say that it was your generation who laid down the heavy burdens of hate at last and that peace finally triumphed over violence, aggression and war...John Lewis
We have lost the youngest and last surviving speaker from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial at the 1963 March on Washington. A leader of the Selma to Montgomery marches in 1965, he was bludgeoned but remained unbowed. He led a life dedicated to justice and non-violence. RIP.
An American in Oslo wrote this piece, full of metaphor for our age. It appeared in today’s NYT. I was to have journeyed to Oslo in a couple of weeks.
