The FDA approved the first at-home COVID test with rapid results as the country prepares for a testing crunch and labs warn of increased turnaround time for results. @WhitJohnson reports. https://t.co/Y7krW4BhUt
Daily covid19 testing continues to increase nationally while the positivity rate continues to decline. These are hopeful signs that -- at least in many parts of the nation -- the epidemic is slowing. Some models show that the doubling time is now 45 days and the Ro is 1.10
Quest Diagnostics continues to ramp #COVID19 testing capacity, filling critical public health need as a swing capacity across America. Now doing 45,000 tests/day; returning results in under 1 day for priority patients, 2 days on average for others @QuestDX https://t.co/qC0HssqqVL
For all you Shakespeare lovers, I’m sure you read in today’s Sunday NY Post that the actor, Patrick Stewart @SirPatStew is reading sonnets by “The Bard” daily on Twitter. Fantastic! I had the great pleasure of meeting Sir Patrick and he is a big baseball fan. @SNYtv@MLB
Our daily update is published. We’ve now tracked a total of 1.6+ million tests, up more than 200k from yesterday. The testing plateau is over.
Note that we can only track tests that a state reports. And not all states report all tests.
For details, see: https://t.co/PZrmH4bl5Y
The biggest thing in this update is that California added 75k+ negative test results and only 1300 new positives. This must be a reporting restatement.
It's a HUGE change in the testing metrics for the state, and it is very good news, if the numbers can be believed.
This suggests that the US is now somewhat above the median in COVID-19 case detection. Our testing is better than much of Europe, and we're picking up a higher share of infections than they are.

When I wonder how long we’ll be in #COVID lockdown, I think of my:
-Wife, then 16, hiding for weeks in Libya in 1967, as mobs searched for Jews
-Mom, as a teenager, fleeing Nazis in France
-Dad fighting Nazis 1939-1945
They had it worse. I’m always inspired by their strength.
No other country has been this far into the pandemic and still had the number of cases growing at the rates the U.S. is seeing.

⚠️Excellent news- Quest Diagnostics now offering #COVID19 tests on demand for hospitals and clinics in its labs across the country. Quest is accepting 🧪samples now and offering results starting March 9th, while seeking FDA EUA approval in interim. Hooray! https://t.co/UQfviIzYK4
Kudos to Quest and their CEO Steve Rusckowski for stepping in at a moment of national public health need to substantially increase #coronavirus screening capacity for America's physicians and patients. https://t.co/E7majZa1mM
