🩺Connecticut is already one of the most expensive states in the country to live and do business. Now, residents and small businesses could be hit with double-digit health insurance rate hikes.
It gets worse. CBIA Health Connections, a group health insurance program launched less than two years ago to give small businesses more affordable coverage options, just announced it’s shutting down. Rising costs and a shrinking market forced it out.
For families and employers already stretched thin, this means skipped doctor visits, impossible budget decisions, and businesses wondering how much longer they can offer coverage to their employees.
State Senator Tony Hwang is calling on the CT Insurance Department to scrutinize these requests and protect consumers. Public hearings are coming this August, and your voice matters. Read more about how to make your voice heard by clicking the link in the comments.

Florida processes more than 10 million votes in a matter of hours.
California takes days — or sometimes even weeks — to count the votes.
It’s pathetic — and it’s corrosive to our civic culture.
Oh, you caught me. Red-handed. A conservative who actually wants FEWER innocent people dead.
Lock me up.
You want to talk about empathy? Fine. Let us go there. I posted PEER-REVIEWED DATA -- 13,000-plus statistical regressions, DeShaney v. Winnebago (1989), Castle Rock v. Gonzales (2005) -- showing that armed citizens SAVE lives. Documented. Confirmed. Settled law. And your entire counter-argument is... "cash your check, stooge."
That is weapons-grade stupid, my friend. That is truly the intellectual equivalent of a solar-powered night light.
You want to lecture me about empathy for the bereaved? I spent 23 years as an Army combat medic. I held dying people. I worked as a civilian paramedic in Cleveland. I see trauma, not from a Twitter thread, but from kneeling on pavement next to it. So you will forgive me if I do not take empathy lessons from someone whose entire rebuttal fits inside a fortune cookie.
But here is the part you slid right past -- and I notice you did it on purpose.
You are "concerned about children." You said that. Those exact words. So answer me this, you fopdoodle: WHERE IS YOUR CONCERN FOR THE UNBORN?
Because I, the heartless conservative you just diagnosed from your keyboard, am MORE concerned with stopping innocent deaths -- not less. That is literally the position I argued. More guns in the right hands = fewer innocent people killed. The DATA says so. John Lott says so. The felons surveyed by the DOJ say so.
But your side? Your side fights tooth and nail to protect the right to end a human life before it takes its first breath, THEN shows up in June with orange ribbons talking about how much you love children.
That is not empathy. That is a prop.
Quinn's Law Number Two applies here like a textbook: if you want to know what liberals are actually doing, pay close attention to what they accuse conservatives of. You called ME incapable of empathy. Meanwhile, your political coalition cannot even agree that a beating heart deserves protection.
You do not get to claim the moral high ground on "innocent lives" while defending the termination of 63 million of them since 1973.
I want fewer dead people. ALL of them. The ones shot. The ones drowned in bathtubs (80 per year -- did you read the post, or just the last line?). The ones killed in cars (1,305 children that same year). And yes -- the ones who never got a chance to be bereaved by anything because they were never allowed to be born.
But what do I know -- I am only a combat medic, a paramedic, a science teacher, and a father of four who apparently cares too much about the data and not enough about the narrative.

Let me ruin your June for a second.
Every year when National Gun Violence Awareness Month rolls around, the same people who have not read a single page of John Lott's 13,312-regression peer-reviewed study start posting pictures of children and demanding you feel responsible for deaths you did not cause and had nothing to do with.
So. Let us talk about children. Since they brought it up.
In 2006, the CDC recorded 642 accidental firearm deaths in the entire United States. For children under the age of ten — the number was 31. Thirteen under age five. Eighteen between five and nine.
Tragic? Absolutely. Every single one.
But here is the number that will not appear on a single "Orange Friday" awareness post: 80.
Eighty children under the age of five drown in bathtubs every year. Every. Single. Year.
ALMOST THREE TIMES as many children drown in bathtubs annually as die from ALL firearm accidents combined — including adults. And forty more drown in five-gallon water buckets. The kind you buy at Home Depot for $4.99.
I have given this information at talks and watched jaws drop, because people genuinely believe the number is in the thousands. They have been so thoroughly marinated in "gun violence awareness" content that their perception of actual risk is completely detached from reality. That is not an accident. That is the point of the campaign.
Where is Bathtub Awareness Month? Where is the congressional hearing on five-gallon bucket control? Where is the hashtag? Where are the orange ribbons for the children who drowned while their parents were in the next room?
There are none. Because the campaign was never about children. It was never about safety. If it were about safety, they would be equally outraged about cars — which killed 1,305 children that same year. Or fire. Or drowning. But they are not. The selective fury lands exclusively on firearms. And if you are a scientist, which I happen to be, you do not get to cherry-pick your data based on which conclusion you prefer. Quinn's Law Number Six: facts are the enemy of liberalism.
Now let us talk about what the actual data says about guns and safety, because John Lott ran 13,000-plus statistical regressions across every county in America and the results are not ambiguous.
Fifty-six percent of convicted felons surveyed in a ten-state study said they would NOT attack a target they believed was armed. Fifty-six percent. The deterrence is real, it is documented, and it functions whether or not a shot is ever fired. The firearm you carry protects your neighbor whether your neighbor knows it or not.
When states passed right-to-carry laws, multiple-victim public shootings — what the media insists on calling "mass shootings" to maximize terror — dropped by 67 percent. Deaths in those events dropped by 75 percent. Injuries by 81 percent. States that adopted these laws virtually ELIMINATED mass public shootings within four to five years. The remaining events? They happened almost exclusively in the specific locations where guns remained banned. The gun-free zones. The places we hang the sign that only the law-abiding ever read.
There were between 760,000 and 3.6 million defensive gun uses in the United States last year alone, depending on which of fifteen national polls you consult. A JAMA Network Open study from March 2025 estimated 489,000 DGUs in which a firearm was actually discharged. The Department of Justice's own National Crime Victimization Survey puts the conservative floor at 65,000 defensive uses per year against assaults, robberies, and home invasions.
No dead body. No coverage. No awareness month.
Here is one more number for you: 74. Seventy-four percent of convicted felons in a National Institute of Justice survey said they actively avoided homes they believed were occupied by armed residents. Criminals respond to incentives. That is not ideology — that is basic deterrence theory, and it is confirmed by the people who actually commit the crimes.
I also want you to think carefully about something the Supreme Court already settled. DeShaney v. Winnebago County (1989). Town of Castle Rock v. Gonzales (2005). Two separate rulings establishing that the government has NO legal obligation to protect you as an individual. None. You are your own first responder. That is not my opinion — that is settled constitutional law from the highest court in this country.
So the political class that just told you the government is not required to protect you... is also the one demanding you surrender the tool you use to protect yourself.
I want fewer people dead. That is why I know the data. That is why I read the book. That is why I am furious every June when emotion and fundraising replace science and evidence in a "debate" that has actual life-or-death consequences for real people.
You want to honor the children? Honor ALL of them. The ones who drowned. The ones who died in car crashes. And the ones who will never be born because a woman alone in her house at 2 a.m. had no way to stop what was coming through her door.
But what do I know — I am only a published textbook author, a science teacher, a father of four, and a combat medic who spent his career reducing human suffering and who actually read the peer-reviewed data before forming an opinion.

🚨President Trump has REFUSED to stop calling out Democrats for CHEATING in our elections.
"If they DIDN’T cheat, they could NOT win — because their policies are so bad."
God bless Trump. These election thieves need locked up.
The judge who ordered Trump's name stripped from the Kennedy Center married his wife in a ceremony officiated by Merrick Garland.
That wife, Amy Jeffress, represented Lisa Page during the FBI texting scandal, helped the Jan. 6 committee, and now serves as Joe Biden's personal attorney. Her former law firm represented E. Jean Carroll against Trump.
Trump says Judge Christopher Cooper has 'a total Conflict of Interest' and asserts he can't be treated fairly in Cooper's court.
There is literally nothing California could do to make their elections less secure.
Mail in ballots and No ID.
Weeks of counting with no real chain of custody.
The fraud is staggering.
It’s an insult to America.
It’s an insult to Americans.
🚨 WOW! Secretary Rubio is taking NO BS from Dem Rep. Ted Lieu, he keeps DESTROYING them
LIEU: Trump can't even stay awake during meetings!
RUBIO: He's NOT falling asleep
LIEU: YOU'RE LYING
RUBIO: Is this a JOKE!? This is a Foreign Affairs Committee you're asking about SLEEP [...] Absurd and ridiculous. I can't believe we're in a Foreign Affairs Committee with questions about someone who thinks he's a MEDICAL EXPERT when he's NOT! We HAD a cognitively impaired president for 4 years. THIS president is a guy that literally DOESN'T sleep, works long hours every day. I talk to him day and night, HE WORKS INHUMANE HOURS. I've been on trips where he doesn't sleep the whole flight, he's wandering the hallways to wake people up and talk to! He has an INCREDIBLE amount of energy.
He's so good.
🚨 JUST NOW: President Trump angers the Democrats by going full WASHINGTON DC BEAUTY mode, he personally made donations and worked with Doug Burgum
"You're going to have the reflecting pool opened within hours. I mean, literally within hours. The water starts pouring in tonight. It's going to be beautiful. You haven't seen that since 1922!"
"The parks are open. We changed the grass. You know, grass has a life also. Grass has a life. And that grass hasn't been changed in 70, 80 years. It died many times over!"
"We have beautiful grass, beautiful parks, beautiful everything. We don't have people living on it. And Washington, D.C. In a matter of 14 months, Washington, D.C. is like a different place that people are coming here!"
"You know, the restaurants were all going out of business, you know, because you used the restaurants. And now the restaurants are hot. In fact, if anything, we don't have enough restaurants based."
"They're all reopening. It's become vibrant. It's a beautiful thing to watch. And I am honored that I've been able to do it to our nation's capital."
Patriot.
Connecticut, as you watch the votes come in for California’s gubernatorial primary and LA mayoral primary, it should give you the hope that people are waking up in the most liberal state in the country. The state CT models its government off.
The time is now. Democrats are cooked.
He’s the President of the United States — not your ex, not your personal villain, and not the cause of your misery. You don’t have to support him. That’s America.
But if someone is simply backing the sitting President and it makes you rage, cut people off, attack families, or act like garbage — you are the problem.
You’ve turned politics into a personality disorder: nonstop outrage and toddler meltdowns online. Grow up. He won. The sky didn’t fall. Pay your bills, care for your family, touch grass, and move on.
meanwhile, yesterday @NedLamont celebrated Pride by telling government to "get the hell out of our private lives ..."
unless you're a homeschooler, apparently, and then ned think's it's perfectly okay for government to interfere with your lives!!!
@news_lumen
How do I know the media is brainwashing people?
Obama's ICE Chief received the Presidential Award for Distinguished Service for removing over 900,000 illegal aliens.
Trump's ICE Chief is called a Nazi.
It is the same person.....Tom Homan....
The only difference? The narrative.
There is no country on earth like this one. And I don't say that lightly.
Every nation has a flag. Every nation has borders and a history and pride. But America has something no other country can claim, a concept so radical it had never been tried before in human civilization. Not a state religion. Not a king ordained by God. But soul liberty.
That phrase was coined by Roger Williams, a 17th century Baptist preacher who founded Rhode Island after being exiled from Massachusetts for one dangerous idea: that no government has the right to tell you what to believe.
Williams was the first man to establish in practice the emancipation of conscience from the grip of political and religious rule. He didn't just preach it. He helped create a government built entirely around that belief, one that protected every person's right to seek God, or not, entirely on their own terms.
That idea became the First Amendment.
And here's what most people miss about the Establishment Clause. It was never a rejection of Christianity. As Ronald Reagan put it, the First Amendment was not written to protect people from religious values.
It was written to protect religious values from government tyranny. The wall between church and state is the greatest protection the church ever got. When government cannot crown a religion, no religion can be dethroned by government either. Your faith is untouchable.
People think the separation of church and state was invented by secular Enlightenment thinkers trying to push God out of public life. But the idea didn't come from philosophers. It came from the church.
Specifically, it came from Baptists, people who had bled for their faith and refused to let a government ever define it again.
The entire concept of soul liberty is that each person is directly accountable to God, and must have the freedom to make their own religious choices without coercion from the state.
Genuine faith must be freely chosen, never imposed. A government that forces belief doesn't produce Christians. It produces pretenders. And the church knew it, because Christ understood it first.
Worship cannot be compelled. It must be given freely.
That truth is woven into the entire ministry of Jesus. He never recruited by force. He never leveraged power. He invited. He asked. He reasoned. He opened people's eyes with truth and let them choose.
The creation of human beings in the image of God necessarily implies the freedom to choose, for or against a relationship with Him, voluntarily, without coercion.
Jesus himself drew the line: "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's." He never took a coin from Caesar or sought the help of Herod in his ministry.
If Christ did not compel worship, what king or government ever has the right to?
For Baptists, a free church in a free state rests not on political theory but on the Word of God. It is the Christian ideal.
America is America because of Christianity. Not in spite of it.
No other country on earth can trace its foundational freedom back to this. Not to a king. Not to a constitution borrowed from Rome. Only in America did a Baptist preacher standing in the wilderness declare God alone is Lord of the conscience.
As our 250th anniversary approaches, people need to understand what was bled and died for. They didn't die for a flag. They died for your freedom of conscience, your right to seek God on your own terms, to wrestle with Him, to find your way to Him without any earthly power standing between you and the divine.
That freedom has always been under attack. For generations it came from the left. Now the assault is coming from the right as well. And that makes it more important than ever to know what makes this country one nation under God.
This freedom of conscience, this freedom to worship, is the single greatest gift America gave to the world. It is unique. It exists nowhere else. It was born in the church, written into law by men who understood the gospel, and it must be defended by people who still do.
