I think our health care system is stupid as fuck too but he’s saying that that 12k/yr is already deducted in this figure on the canadian side, while the americans would pay that cost in insurance from that after tax income.

Now emplyoement has that quite varied but I have an american buddy who pays about $7k/yr for a family of 3 on insurance, self-employed and has access to actual decent care so… 🤷‍♂️
