We are living in a great crisis. The beautification of defeat and apathy. Its a increasing trend I've noticed.
100 years ago, China suffered this too.

The true high level skill in any industry or activity is:
1. Practicing the fundamentals endlessly.
2. Experimenting different ways to apply those fundamentals.
3. Create new fundamentals from combining properties of different ones.
Napoleon was highly skilled at this.
The secret to beating other people is quite simple. It's knowing how to do the fundamentals better than them.
Very often when someone loses, it's because their grasp of fundamentals is weaker.
When someone innovates well their grasp of fundamentals is very good.

Classical education matters. Even if you throw in Chinese classics too. Its helped me in my career and life.
Humanities ends up complimenting STEM work if you do it right, imo.
Gives it a framework, depth, and abstraction techbros often lack.
Even the western classic philosophy or later canon didnt believe in the self actualizer. Even enlightment thought.
Most concepts are defined in relation to the individuals place in a larger framework. Rather than a lone individual.
@pplsartofwar You also get the sense that names mattered a lot and were largely out of your control. Which is a direct contrast to the "Western Industrial Bourgeoisie Self Actualizer" and I find that incredibly interesting.

I’m 25 and I’m gonna graduate college at 27. Most of my friends have multiple kids and are married. Prob gonna be an intern at 28/29. Life will continue whether you go to uni or not. The day you stop adhering to this mindset of a “social clock” is the day you’ll know

What you are meant to do, and destined to do you already know. Often in life, we return over and over to those things. Rejecting it only makes it come back. Accepting it, how we succeed.
