This is the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2026, held at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on June 11, 2026. Ninety minutes before the opening match between Mexico and South Africa, Shakira and Burna Boy delivered the first live performance of Dai Dai, this year's official tournament song. Shakira opened the show in a bright yellow mesh bodysuit and matching gloves, with Burna Boy joining halfway through in a matching denim set. The pair performed atop a massive turquoise and yellow flag covering the entire field, closing the set with red and green pyrotechnics. More than 80,000 people filled the stadium for the show.
Shakira has been closely tied to the World Cup since her 2010 hit Waka Waka became a global anthem, earning her the nickname Queen of the World Cup. Dai Dai was released in May 2026 and named the official song of the tournament, with a portion of proceeds going to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.

This is the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2026, held at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on June 11, 2026. At the first official stage of the first-ever World Cup co-hosted across three nations, Andrea Bocelli and EJAE performed DNA live for the very first time, with David Guetta leading the stage from his DJ set. Megan Thee Stallion did not perform at the opening ceremony.
DNA was released on June 10, 2026 through SALXCO UAM and Def Jam Recordings as the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Anthem. The track brings together Italian opera tenor Andrea Bocelli, global DJ and producer David Guetta, three-time Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion, and Korean-American singer-songwriter EJAE, who won the Academy Award, Grammy and Golden Globe earlier this year for Golden from Netflix's KPop Demon Hunters. The song moves through Italian, English and Korean, mirroring the multinational scale of a tournament that spans three host countries and 48 competing nations. EJAE's Korean-language passage draws from a personal memory of Seoul uniting during the 2002 World Cup, when she was a child. The chorus, built around the line "It's more than just a game, it's our DNA," places classical opera, EDM, rap and K-pop inside a single track, a combination no World Cup anthem has attempted before.

Just before taking the stage at Coachella 2026 EJAE Audrey Nuna and REI AMI were seen enjoying a rehearsal of Golden backstage.
Despite the lighthearted atmosphere they displayed perfect chemistry which soon evolved into a sophisticated performance with overwhelming energy on the Coachella main stage before tens of thousands of fans.
Gaudio Studio technology precisely extracted the core vocals of the artists from both the backstage ambient noise and the grand sound of the actual performance separating the background tracks and vocals.
