हल्ली मी गिरीश कुलकर्णी यांच्या पाॅडकास्ट/इंटरव्ह्यू जास्त पाहतोय. कारण फक्त एकच आहे त्या माणसाचं असणारं "मराठी" भाषेवर प्रभुत्व. मी त्या माणसाच्या जेवढ्या पाॅडकास्ट पाहिल्यात त्या सगळ्यात मला एक गोष्ट जाणवली की त्यांनी मराठी सोडून एकही दुसर्‍या भाषेतील शब्द शक्यतो वापरला नाही. यावरुन कळत की तो माणूस अस्सल मराठी कोळून प्यायलाय. इंग्रजी किंवा दुसर्‍या कोणत्या भाषेतील शब्दांचा आधार न घेता एवढं भारी प्रभावी व्यक्त होणं ही त्यांची ताकद आहे, हे शक्यतो जास्त लोकांना जमत नाही. भारी माणूस आहे राव ❤️

Never leave your friend alone during placements. A short personal story:

I was third ranked in my MBA course (the first and second rank were my roommates).

I had a PPI from Tata Capital however I wasn’t sure if it will be converted (interview was on Thursday)

The placement started on Monday morning. I sat through 6 companies and reached interview round of all 5. Got rejected in 5. Mostly because I was so scared of failure that my mind stopped working. In one of the interview, they started by asking what is free cash flow and I replied what is EBITDA. This was 2009 and the horrors of 2008 placements was fresh in my mind.

At around 11pm, I was told that my last interview would be at 1am. It eventually happened at 5am. I was the last candidate and place com told me that they have filled their quota and my interview will be a formality.

2 of my closest friend (both placed by now) remained me till 5am. They got me food and water while I waited in a suit. They even polished my shoes as I was exhausted by now.

While entering the room, one of my friend said - “tere saath thik nahi hua. Yeh aaj ka last interview hain. Tere ko nahi lenge. Tu ja aur khul kar bol de jo tere mann mein hain”

I entered the room and what followed was unfiltered me. 45 mins of them questioning and me replying with utmost confidence in the most arrogant tone ever. Their first question was why did you apply for this role and my answer was - why did you select me for the interview round. It set the tone and this just flowed through for 45mins.

When it ended, they said we will exceed their quota and I will be joining them. I came out and hugged both my friends. They had no idea what had happened but they stood there waiting to take me back to the hostel. They had even planned for the next day of companies for me.

If you have ever have a friend, don’t leave them alone during placements!
