DSA interviews were originally introduced to test the reasoning ability of candidates. Over time companies started copy pasting this format because of its effectiveness.

Then folks capitalised on this format by selling stuff around it, and this encouraged rote learning and "pattern" memorisation over actual reasoning ability. The latter part is what is making DSA interviews useless.

The point was never to test if a candidate can write a dijkstra during the actual job, but to actually to see if they can reason out the details.

Spend time learning how to reason, knowledge is getting democratised, engineering taste is not.

Its a great time to spend time on fundamentals, and learn how to reason and build.

Agency, Ownership, Reasoning and the Sense of Building are going to be timeless ♾️
