For the first time since 2014, there are no hostages held in Gaza.

The Hostages and Missing Families Forum was established one day after October 7, with a single, urgent mission: to bring home the 255 men, women, and children taken hostage to Gaza. What began as a moment of unimaginable shock became one of the most determined civic, moral, and human struggles in history.

Today, 843 days later, that mission has been completed. All 255 hostages have been returned to Israel. 46 of them were abducted alive and murdered in captivity. With the return of Rani Gvili, a hero who gave his life defending his community, we can finally say: there are no longer any hostages in Gaza.

This moment belongs not only to the families, but to the millions in Israel and around the world who stood with us. To every government, organization, journalist, and individual who refused to look away, who raised their voices, applied pressure, and believed this mission could be completed, we offer our deepest gratitude.

Meny is brought home after 769 days 💔

Meny Godard was murdered and abducted from Kibbutz Be’eri on the morning of October 7th.

Meny grew up by the sea alongside his father Yaakov, who worked as a lifeguard. Meny later followed in his footsteps and became a lifeguard himself. He came to Kibbutz Be’eri at age 14, following his sister Shmuela.

In the army, he served in the Armored Corps reconnaissance and fought in the Yom Kippur War. Throughout his life, he held many positions in the kibbutz and was a pillar of the community. Among all his accomplishments, he considered his family to be his greatest. He was a devoted father and a loving and proud grandfather to his grandchildren.

On the morning of October 7th, Meny hid in the safe room of his home in Kibbutz Be’eri with his wife Ayelet. The two fled from the safe room after their home was set on fire, but the terrorists were waiting for them outside. They murdered Meny and kidnapped his body to Gaza. Ayelet hid in the bushes for several hours until she too was murdered.

Meny is survived by his children Gal, Bar, Mor, and Goni, and his seven grandchildren.

The Hostages and Missing Families Forum bows its head in sorrow and shares in the profound grief of the Godard family.

There are no words to express the depth of this pain.

The hostages have no time. We must bring them all home, Now!

1/ So, What’s Happening in Gaza?
How did we reach this agreement? And where does this ceasefire leave both sides?

Beyond the competing narratives and politically motivated spins, a complex and layered set of factors led to this ceasefire - and possibly, the end of the war.

Israel had been pressing Hamas militarily, targeting what remains its most important asset: Gaza City. Within Gaza, pressure was mounting as well - from the Palestinian population and from Hamas operatives urging their leadership to end the war. Netanyahu was constantly discussing the 'break point' of Hamas, promissing a 'total victory'. Yet at the same time, as I've written here several times, the scenario was always of Beirut 1982, when Israel led to the exile of the PLO and Arafat following a short siege.

However, Israel was facing growing international pressure and isolation, which has reached emergency proportations. The United States and President Trump aspired to bring the conflict to a close by the end of 2025. The President himself has said as much, telling Netanyahu, in essence, that Israel cannot fight with the entire world (lookd for his interview to Fox News, right after the agreement was reached).

Washington managed to enlist Qatar and Turkey to help pressure Hamas; both of these countries got substantial returns for that. This left Hamas with no real option, with all its regional allies demanding it compromised on a cease fire.
The failed Israeli assassination attempt in Qatar became a catalyst - an opportunity to turn crisis into leverage and push the process forward.

There’s another dynamic often overlooked: wars have a way of maturing. They reach a point of exhaustion, where both sides lose public support at home and recognize the need to pause, if not end, the fighting. This war, too, had reached that point. No doubt, Israel had the upper hand.

Now: What Was Achieved - and Why It Matters

19 families are tormented.
19 families are waiting for closure.

An estimated 400,000 people were at Hostage Square in Tel Aviv tonight.

If it weren't for these determined caring wonderful people, and the courageous hostage families, fighting for the release of the hostages day and night, President Trump would have continued buying Netanyahu's lies.

The people of Israeli did not stop crying out for and demanding an end to the war and the release of all hostages. Trump heard them and he stepped in, as only he could.
