1. When I was in school, I saw two friends I knew having an argument that spilled into the corridor of Makama Bida Hall, Unilag. It was loud and people gathered, one said things to embarrass the other but the other guy restrained himself and watched people laugh at him.

2. When everyone had gone and it got quiet, the friend who had spilled the beans on the other to win the argument in the eyes of the public hugged his friend. He said, today I know you are my friend, you had enough ammunition to have exposed me but you held your peace.

3. He said, "you kept what I confided in you and you also had seen private so as not to embarrass me." There are arguments you may be able to easily win if you expose information you have which you got because the other party said to you in trust. Don't cross that line to win.

4. God is a God of justice who sees the hearts of men and will reward each one according to their works. Sooner than later he will bring all things into the light and to those discerning ones, unfolding events will speak. Don't abort the promotion he has for you by being disloyal.

5. Don't make winning arguments your goal, make it winning in life. Looking back today, the trajectory of those guys today shows clearly who won.

Those who do us evil we forgive and set aside the wrong done but those who helped us along the path, those we will never forget. As God provides the opportunity, we will repay them for the good they have done. We won't force oursleves to do them good out of the ordained season, we will wait for the opportuned time even if it is their "seed" i.e their offspring, we will pay them back. Never forget those who helped you along the path.
