You are very wrong, and the fact that many people here are not correcting you says a lot about how most of us will know the truth and still tow the path of ignorance just so other non-thinkers can hail us or agree with us.
BRF was and is still a Lawyer

Your current president was an accountant and an entrepreneur
Buhari was a livestock farmer
Gbenga Daniel was into engineering and owned many businesses

I have stated just a few here.
If you will just take a minute to research, you will see that nobody could cut it in Nigeria's politics without having a job he or she was doing before venturing into politics.
After their stint in politics, they return to their chosen vocations too
It is not healthy to wake up and just badmouth people; it corrupts your soul and skews your perception badly

A man died at the age of 43
He was buried last Friday
His wife of thirteen years had been so mean to him over the years that sometime in 2023, he moved out of the house he built for this woman
This woman told him if he ever tried to leave her for another woman, he would die like a dog
Because he was aware of how fetish the wife and her family were, he went back to his mother's house rather than rent an apartment
He continued taking care of his children remotely
Then he got another woman pregnant
The day the wife heard it, the wife sent him a text
"It better not be true. If it is, start counting down, as either you or the new woman or the child would leave this world within the next one year".
He called his friends and told them all about it
His friends took him to church for prayers and assured him that it was just an empty threat
The new wife delivered a baby boy in April 2026
He fell sick a day after the baby was born
He died on the 17th of July.
The wife was the one who cried the most at the funeral
Those who knew the drama behind the scenes just observed from afar

Why Some Children Go Bad

A father told me the story of how his daughter went bad despite all his efforts as a single parent.
He said he met a lady at a random party and had sex with her
He said the lady targeted him but he had no idea that she did
He was twenty-three years old at the time, and the lady was nineteen
She was a student at the local teacher training college while he was the son of a popular High Chief in his state and already established in business

He said he paid the lady for her services and left his state after the party to conduct some business in some parts of western Nigeria
When he returned to the South East some months later, his father sent for him
When he got to his father's house, he met a woman and her daughter
The daughter was pregnant
He said he didn't even recognise her
He said his father asked him if he slept with the lady, and he denied it because he didn't recognise her

The lady then mentioned the name of the hotel, the name of the party celebrant, the other ladies that she accompanied to the party from her school, how much he paid her and which room it was that they had sex in.
He said he told his father all the details she gave were true, but the woman he slept with was a prostitute, and he paid her off
He said he had never seen where a prostitute would get paid in full and still bring a pregnancy to the man who slept with her

His father told the lady and her mother that since the daughter was fully paid, the transaction was concluded in good faith and that they should leave his house
"Why keep the pregnancy after sleeping with my son?
You slept with other people and used prevention or had an abortion, but when it came to my son, you showed up claiming you are pregnant"

It was a mess.
The young lady and her mother went to the catholic church, where his father was a pillar, and to the houses of other chiefs to cry and beg for their intervention.
Eventually, the chiefs visited the family house to appeal to his father to consider it as an act of charity to accept the pregnancy
His father said she must deliver and they must see that the child belongs to his son before such a decision could be made.

She delivered a baby girl.
The girl had all the genetic features of his family
It was obvious to everybody that the baby was for their family.
When his father, the family leaders and others went to the hospital to see the baby, they came out with one conclusion
The baby was theirs
His father called him and told him that the baby was his
He told his father he could never marry the prostitute but would willingly send her some money for monthly upkeep.
Both families agreed to this until the young girl was five years old, and somebody saw her with the mother at another hotel, where the lady left one of the waiters to watch over the young girl while she went to entertain some men in the room.
This was reported to him, and he decided he would have to take his daughter from the mother.
Negotiations were intense, but at the end of the day he paid the woman five hundred thousand Naira and took his daughter away from her

By this time, he was thirty and unmarried. He kept the young lady at his father's house as he went about conducting his business.
A year later, his father told him to get married so that his daughter would have proper care, and he did.
Unfortunately, his wife hated his daughter with venom.
To make matters worse, his wife didn't get pregnant on time, and this made her hate his daughter even more.

He saw everything his wife was doing and how his daughter was always walking on eggshells and crying almost all the time.
He said this led to a lot of bitter rows until he decided to put his daughter in a boarding school.

Unfortunately, the young lady got expelled in JSS1 for theft.
He said he knew it was probably because he left it too late before taking the decision to put her in the boarding school.
He researched another school and placed her there even though it was quite expensive for him to do so.
It was one of the best secondary schools in Lagos, and they had this deliberate grooming for their students that helped them with posture, etiquette, structure and discipline
His daughter graduated from there without any hassles, and he felt the matter had been laid to rest.

One day, while his daughter was in the university, she came home to see him and his wife accused her of stealing some of her money.
His daughter, for the first time, reacted to the accusation with violence, and she almost beat up her stepmother.
The stepmother's children stood up to their stepsister in defence of their mother, and the entire house was almost set ablaze.

He found himself in the middle of the mess with his wife asking him to discipline his daughter for daring to exchange words with her and his daughter asking him to defend her from the wicked stepmother's antics.

He investigated the accusation and the alleged stolen money was found in his wife's handbag.
His wife refused to apologise
His daughter decided to take the issue up by going to the police station
He pleaded with her not to do so
She began to cry and demanded that she would like to visit her biological mother.
He had forbidden her from visiting her mother but not from seeing her
So her mother would normally meet with her at a restaurant not too far from his house once in a while.

He told her she was above eighteen years of age and was free to do anything she wanted
The following day, she packed her bag and went to see her mother
The mother lived in a slum, and his daughter had no business in such a place
He had hoped that the moment she got there, she would be put off by the place and not stay for a day.

He was wrong.
She stayed with her mother
Her mother had five children for five men and practically lived off the money her first two daughters made off the men they were sleeping with
When she joined them, her mother told her there was no free food or accommodation with her, as she had it with her father
Everybody hustled for their daily bread
That was how his daughter was introduced to the mother's lifestyle
Within a year, she had become an expert at sleeping with men for money while still studying law

He said he believed it was in her DNA to turn out that way, but a lack of love and acceptance from her stepmother also made her feel unsettled and fuelled her need for validation and acceptance, which she found in her mother's house.

He said his other children are married and successful in all their careers, but his first daughter was only successful in her career.
She couldn't settle down in marriage, as she had turned out to be someone who had successfully mixed her career as a corporate lawyer with sexual explorations of all kinds with different men.

He said he tried to intervene when she was thirty-five by getting a therapist to help her sort out the issues, but the intervention only made her worse.

PS: This was a telephone conversation I had, and I tried to remember as much of it as possible.

He said he has done so well, and when we see other African Nations who change their president and conduct elections every four years have struggled for development and national cohesion while we have thrived, we decided we would rather have him as our president for as long as possible.
How old is he now? I asked
The tour guide said he is 65
I told him that Rwanda can decide that way because they have a low population and are a small country.
The same style of leadership they have can also be seen in Togo and Cameroon, and the result is mixed regarding governance in those countries.
He agreed with me that one person staying in power for a long time is not necessarily a good determinant of good governance.
We talked about their one thousand hills, electricity, bills, and road traffic regulations, the use of drones for safety and security of the nation, their history, employment opportunities, love and marriage in the country and other things
It was quite an eye-opening conversation

The danger of assumptions on many levels.
The discussion was the simplicity of God
The child came to bother the father
The father told the child to away
The child came back
The father told him more sternly to go away
How do we know this was not how God would treat us sometimes when we are being a pest
Many of us see God as someone who basically indulges all our basic instincts without ever being stern with us
That belief is wrong!

I witnessed something in a Christian bookstore recently that has bothered me ever since.

It wasn’t heresy. It wasn’t bad theology.

It was something far more subtle.

I was thumbing through a beautiful ESV Study Bible at a Christian bookstore on the campus of a well-respected, orthodox seminary.

A few feet away at the cash register, an M.Div. student, probably in his late 30s, was passionately discussing his dissertation with the cashier. It was on the simplicity of God and how it’s become a forgotten doctrine. It was fascinating to overhear.

This student was married with several children. One of his young sons, probably 6 years old, walked up and innocently asked him a question.

The dad snapped at him harshly and told him no, and to go away.

The boy tried again.

This time the father lost it, publicly berated him, and told him to go away. The little boy walked off in tears while the conversation about the “simplicity of God” continued.

That interaction has stuck with me ever since.

The irony was hard to ignore.

It made me wonder how often we become experts at describing God’s character while forgetting to display it.

Here was a man studying some of the deepest truths about God… yet in that moment, the theology he was discussing wasn’t reflected in the way he treated his own son.

Now, to be fair, I don’t know that man’s life. I caught one moment, not his whole story. We’ve all had moments we’d want back.

But it was a sobering reminder for me.

Orthodoxy without orthopraxy eventually becomes hypocrisy.

The goal of theology isn’t merely to know more about God.

It’s to become more like Christ.

And before anyone thinks I’m pointing fingers, I’m not. I’ve had my own moments where I’ve been impatient with my children, spoken too harshly, or failed to love my wife and kids the way Christ loves us. I hate those moments, and by God’s grace I want fewer of them.

I’m telling this story with conviction toward myself first.

If the people closest to me don’t consistently experience the love, patience, gentleness, and grace that I can so easily talk about, then I’ve missed the point.

People steer clear of those they perceive to be dangerous

A woman told a man once that all she wanted in life was to own her own three-bedroom flat and a small car.
The man was poor at the time and saw these as achievable goals
He celebrated the woman's simplicity and shouted it on the rooftops
Then he became wealthy and decided to build mansions and buy his wife cars and employ chefs and drivers
The wife refused to have any of it
She said she told him she didn't want a rich or successful husband; she wanted a simple man who was contented to live a simple life with her.
He had assumed that her taste would grow as they became more successful as a couple
He forgot that it is difficult to change another person's dreams from the outside

What does she need five million Naira for at seventy five.
You live in your own house, drive your own car, have all your needs met and nothing you desire is denied you.
I asked her
“Mummy, what do you need five million Naira for?”
She said “Ko Sa ma mi ninu account mi.” (Let it just be breathing in my bank account).
I said okay.
It is a good sentimental thing to do but thinking pragmatically and in a business like manner, it is not a good idea to leave 5 million Naira in your mummy’s account just so the money can be breathing in the account.

The tradwife deal requires men to actually commit, and they won’t.

A tradwife is a contract. It’s an agreement where a man says, “I will be your sole provider, I will take care of your financial needs, I will be responsible for you,” and a woman says, “I will take care of the home and be dependent on you.”

But men don’t want that kind of commitment.

They want the option to leave whenever they want without feeling guilty. They want the ability to walk away from a relationship without having destroyed someone’s life. They want freedom from accountability.

A tradwife, because she’s dependent on you, owns a part of your life. She’s your responsibility. If you leave her, you’ve destroyed her financial security. If you cheat on her, you’re not just breaking her heart; you’re threatening her survival. If you decide you don’t want to be married anymore, you can’t just walk away clean. You have to support her, you have to make sure she’s okay, you have to be accountable for the choices you made that left her vulnerable.

And that terrifies men.

Because men want to keep their options open. They want to be able to leave if something better comes along. They want to date other women without guilt. They want to prioritize themselves without worrying about who they’re leaving behind.

But a tradwife doesn’t let you do that. A tradwife requires you to show up, to be present, to be accountable. She requires you to think about someone else every single day. She requires you to be the man she depends on, no matter what.

And you can’t just walk away from that. She will be your responsibility forever.

Men don’t want that. They say they do, but when it comes down to actually committing to someone in that way, actually being responsible for someone’s entire life, they back away. They decide that independence is better, that 50/50 is fairer, that women should take care of themselves.

Because commitment, real commitment, means sacrifice. And most men would rather have a woman who’s independent enough to take care of herself but still dependent enough to not ask too much of him.

The tradwife movement isn’t really about returning to traditional values. It’s about selling a fantasy that falls apart the moment it collides with reality.

A real tradwife arrangement requires enormous sacrifice from both people. It requires a woman to give up her financial independence and trust someone else with her future. It requires a man to accept complete financial responsibility for another person’s life, not just for a few years, but potentially for decades.

Most people aren’t willing to make that kind of commitment anymore.

And that’s why so much of the online conversation feels dishonest. Many of the people promoting tradwives aren’t living that lifestyle, and many of the men praising it aren’t actually looking for it. They want the aesthetics of traditional roles without the obligations that come with them.

If you genuinely want to be a tradwife and you find a partner who genuinely wants to be a provider, that’s your choice. There’s nothing inherently wrong with two adults freely choosing that arrangement.

The problem is pretending it’s easy, pretending it’s the natural role for every woman, or pretending that most men actually want the responsibilities that come with it.

Because when you look beyond the hashtags and perfectly curated kitchens, you realise that what many people are really asking for isn’t a traditional marriage.

They’re asking for a woman who gives everything while expecting almost nothing in return.

And that’s not a tradwife.

That’s simply an unequal relationship.

The tradwife fantasy is nothing like what men actually want.

Imagine a tradwife who asks her husband to drive her to the grocery store because she doesn’t have a car. She doesn’t work, so she doesn’t need one. That’s part of the deal, right? He provides, she stays home.

But watch how fast a man gets angry about that. Watch how he suddenly decides that women should be independent, that she should have her own transportation, that relying on him for a ride is unreasonable.

That’s when the tradwife fantasy dies. That’s when men realize they don’t actually want what they claim to want.

Because a real tradwife requires constant provision. She needs money for groceries, for her appearance, for her needs. She needs transportation. She needs healthcare. She needs everything paid for because she’s not earning an income. That’s the entire arrangement.

But men don’t want that. They want the aesthetic of a tradwife, the idea of coming home to a clean house and a beautiful woman, without actually having to be responsible for her. They want her to look perfect without paying for her skincare treatments. They want her to cook without giving her money for groceries. They want her to depend on him emotionally while being completely independent financially.

Men have created a fantasy that doesn’t exist in reality. A woman who acts like a tradwife but pays for herself like an independent woman. A woman who sacrifices her career for the home but somehow also contributes financially. A woman who asks for nothing while giving everything.

And when a real tradwife comes along and actually asks for what the role requires, men run. Because maintaining a woman is expensive. Being someone’s sole provider is a real responsibility. And most men would rather complain about not having a tradwife than actually be the man a tradwife requires.
