Two hours after Donald Trump announced Russia and Ukraine had agreed to a mutual energy ceasefire, Russia launched a cruise missile attack on Kharkiv’s CHP-5 thermal power plant.
Unfortunately this is confusing messaging at best. It is widely known Russia tried to interfere in the referendum as it does almost every western election. The position of successive govts is those attempts were unsuccessful. Burnham will have to clarify what he is saying here.

Chilling piece about the QEUH, the Glasgow hospital with an unfortunate habit of killing its patients. This accusation is extraordinary and yet somehow also thoroughly unsurprising.

Trump’s diesel deal with Putin makes no sense (it’s also immoral since it will fund the ailing Kremlin war machine).
The US has no need of Russian diesel. It already refines more than enough for domestic demand — with 1.5m b/d for export.
Russia has no diesel to export. Ukrainian drones have taken out a third of Russian refining capacity, turning Russia into a net importer of diesel (from India).
The volumes involved are derisory. The initial Russian offer = 2.2m barrels. The US consumes 3.5m b/d.
The price of diesel at the US pump is between $6/6.50. That won’t change before the midterms. The deal does nothing to help Trump in these elections.
But it bolsters Putin and undermines Ukraine.
I assume BBC Panorama is making a programme about Burnham and Manchester's relationship with the UAE, as now exposed by Manchester City scandal. If not, then the Panorama editor should consider their position.
American energy dominance ends up in begging Putin for diesel from refineries that the U.S. until yesterday helped destroy, in a last-minute hope that prices will come down by mid-terms.
Dear people of the UK, this Prize is for you!

80 years on, NRW says "Thank you", presenting its highest award, the State Prize, to the people of the UK, recognising the deep friendship between the state & the UK.
@BrianMcDonaldIE I walked into the KGB HQ in Grodno and demanded to be deported, explaining that I was in the Soviet Union illegally and that I wanted to leave. They told me that I was banned for life. I said "whose life? -- mine or the Soviet Union's". They put me on a train within 24 hours
I’m sorry to say the BBC is committing multiple acts of self-harm. Current senior management do not seem to understand that in the changing media landscape the BBC should still be providing content the commercial sector is unwilling or unable to invest in.
